Re: Toshiba 40rl958 power issues
Could try to reset, one thing to try, unplug tv for 5 minutes then plug back in. another thing to try, hold down power button for 10 seconds then release. 3: with tv powered on unplug from outlet, if condition stays the same, go with a firmware update if possible.Comment

Re: Toshiba 40rl958 power issues
A lot of times its hard to find, I'm pretty sure the manufacturers take them down off their sites pretty fast, I think their "stupid logic" is if you can't fix your tv you will turn around and buy another from them, when sometimes thats all it needs. A good thing to do for every tv owned, that is if the firmware is still on their site, would be download it and keep it in a safe place, where you can always access it.Comment

Guess you could contact toshiba, tell them you are not able to get the update over the internet, maybe they will email it or something?Comment

Try this, I think the last letter in your model is B right? so you would use B. http://www.dl.toshiba.com/tsb-dtv/NA.../40RL958B.htmlComment

Re: Toshiba 40rl958 power issues
If you followed the update procedure just like directed and no luck, I'm thinking it's a faulty mainboard.Comment

Re: Toshiba 40rl958 power issues
Check if you have 12 volts on each side of the fuse on the tcon board, fuse will have a label next to it Fxxx, negative probe on a ground.Comment

Re: Toshiba 40rl958 power issues
I t may help if you upload good clear pictures of the whole back side of the TV showing all the board and then good clear straight shot of the whole top side of the main board.
What kind of Voltage testing have you done on the power supply board and the main board? Results?Never stop learning

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by GLISITHi all,
TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!
I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

by cheeky2I have this Toshiba 49U7763DB Tv which was suffering issues after various electrical power cuts, which happened in quick succession
Originally the TV was powering on and then very shortly powering off. I managed to get into the menu structure before powering off and carry out a first time installation of the TV. Which didn't make much difference. I have managed to factory reset (that didn't make any difference either).
The firmware inside the 17MB120 is corrupted and is causing some strange issues so my question is does anyone have any suitable firmware for this model?

Dell Inspiron 17 (7786) Laptop
Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
Bios: 1.9.0
When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has... - Loading...
