LG 60PM6700-UB Plasma - Sporadic Powers On With Sound, But No Video.

Had a family member bring this to me to see if I could do anything with it. He says that sometimes, when he turns the TV on, there will be audio, but no image. It may go on like this for an hour or so before suddenly, the image will return. He says usually this only happens after having previously watched TV for awhile earlier in the day, turned it off for awhile, and then turned it on again later to try watching again. Usually the first power on of the morning (from a cold start) seems to work every time. It almost sounds like, once the TV has had a chance to get hot from being used is when the problems begin to occur.

As of this writing, the TV seems to work fine, but I went ahead and took some voltages and everything seemed to be in order except for two connectors. One was on the Z-Sus board at the connector with the ribbon cable going to the Main Logic Control Board and the other was at the Y-Sus connector going to the Main Logic Control Board. Here are the voltages I measured and what they were supposed to be according to what is printed on the board:

    Code:
    [B][U]P101 Y-SUS Side[/U][/B]

    [B]Expected readings: | Actual Reading[/B]

    Pin 30: 15V 16.32
    Pin 29: 15V 16.32
    Pin 28: NC
    Pin 27: 5V 4.97
    Pin 26. 5V 4.97
    Pin 25: 5V 4.97

(the other pins had no visible expected reading to go by)

    [B][U]P101 Z-SUS Side[/U][/B]

    [B]Expected Readings | Actual Reading[/B]

    18V 16.32
    18V 16.32
    NC
    5V 5.02
    5V 5.02

(the other pins had no visible expected reading to go by)
So the Main Logic Control Board (PartNo: EAX64290701) comes between Z and Y SUS on the P101 connector and it's the only connector on all of the boards that had a reading other than what I expected to find. Am I right in thinking the Main Logic Control Board could be to blame for the sporadic no video?

Is there anything else I can check for?

As always, pics attached and thanks.

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-55M1 [GH51G mb] powers on, no vcc_core
    by malogro
    Hello all,

I'm stumped on this guy, so wanted to see if anyone has any further ideas:

    Intro:

This is an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-55M1 with unknown prior history (bought "as-is" on eBay). It charges the battery and powers on from both AC adapter and battery, so I think this rules out main power issues.

Upon attempt to boot, it will "reboot" (meaning powers down and then powers on again) only once, and then stays stuck in a status of lights on / no post / no monitor. Powering on with fn+esc maxes out the fans on first boot attempt,...

Samsung UN55NU6900F Standyby voltage is 1V higher than expected, is this a problem?
    by tvguy12012012120
This is the zombie UN55NU6900F I wrote about in this original post.

It originally was completely dead with no standby voltage. After some poking around, I found the solder at RM819 (see pictures) failed. I removed it from the board, it tested fine, resoldered it, and now the TV works.

The expected standby voltage at the reference pin is specified to be 11.8V but it's reading 12.8V. Couple questions:

    1. What could cause the standby voltage to be 1V higher than expected
    2. Is this a problem
    3. Could it have led to the failure at RM819, or was that...

Lowest possible resistance on laptop motherboard rail - Guide Table request
    by Nagy Daniel
Hi, I'm Daniel, and I'm new to the world of repairing motherboards.

I would like to create a table, or more likely a guideline about the voltage rails and their possible resistance rail.

I know that the motherboard design has a very big depend on the rail's resistance, but I would like to know what is the smallest value for a rail that can be acceptable. For example, I heard that some new gaming motherboards can have 0,5 Ohm resistance on the GPU rail, but on an older type, it could be a sign of a shorted GPU rail.

So, I generated a table with AI so I can...

    Laptop Model: DELL Precision 3520 Motherboard: CDP80 LA-E152P Rev 1.0 (A00)
Issue: The laptop powers on automatically after being shut down.
    Actions Taken by Technician:

    BIOS reflashed

    Intel ME region cleared
    Result: Issue still persists
    Additional Observations:

    Power button reads 3.3V (normal)

The problem occurs both when running on battery and when connected to AC adapter...
