    Philips 42PFL5609S/98 Intermittent screen off

    Hi,

I have above TV and it has the intermittent problem of screen going off totally after about 1 hour of watching but the sound is still on. I then switched off the power and restart again but still get blank screen. I am still testing the pattern for which this happens and will update later as I find out more facts.

I have searched this forum for a similar TV (42PFL5609/98) but slightly different symptoms. However couldn't really see the status of it.

I have done a visual inspection on the boards inside for possible causes like bad cap, burn marks but everything looks fine visually.

I would appreciate friends here to further guide me to the likely cause of this.

    Many thanks.

Re: Philips 42PFL5609S/98 Intermittent screen off

I had this fault before on an old Philips 37" plasma using a Hitachi panel. Yours seems a bit too new for that and may use Samsung panel. Check Vs and Va voltage when set shuts off, if this goes away then that is a clue to the fault. If your set has a Samsung panel then check for a light on the Y-main if it lights up then it has entered protect mode so you know it is likely Y-main at fault. Finally general fault diagnosis since it is intermittent temperature may be a fault so try heating and cooling things down and see if it works longer/shorter. Also if you have a variac try running it on low vs high supply voltage; I have seen issues where TVs work at 240V but fail at 235V.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
      by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
      by smic717394
      Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

      Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
      by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

Red patches on screen. Driver fault???
      by MarkC1970
I have a strange fault that I need help understanding. The TV is run with a PCB labelled TP.MS6486.PB711.

As you will see in the pictures there is a red patch over the right hand side of the screen that is far more visible on a black background but never goes away. It appears like it is some sort of driver fault but I don't know enough about how these panels are driven to even guess where to start looking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
