I have a TV problem that I hope someone can help with. I have a Samsung UN60ES7500 where the HDMI connectors don't work but the component connector works. I would like to know if I can connect component cables to a switching box that has multiple HDMI connectors for DVD player, Xbox, etc. If not, can someone recommend a reasonably priced repair service to fix what I think is the main board. The repair sites I see on Ebay are $150 and up. I haven't pulled the back off to get the board number but the ones that could possibly fit are $175 and up - too much to risk on a 5-6 year old TV. Your thoughts/suggestions/comments would be appreciated!

Re: Samsung UN60ES7500 HDMI failure
Looks like the main board suffers from failures of the lead-free bga connections on the main processor. Proper repair is to get it reballed. Some have had success with a heat gun to the processor. Used boards may have the same failure in time. nickstv has an account on this site.

Re: Samsung UN60ES7500 HDMI failure
Thanks for the replies. Any way I can connect the component connectors to a box that would have multiple HDMI inputs so I can use a DVD player, Xbox, etc. and switch back and forth as needed?Comment

by CapLeakerI’ve had and got a few projects using quality CAT6 and CAT7 23awg solid copper, shielded, direct burial cable. Each time I use CAT7 connectors, most of them fail making good connections to the 4 wire pairs after crimping. I tied a couple of crimping tools, thinking my crimper is bad. Also used different CAT7 RJ45 connector manufacturers. Same thing. I kinda calculate 6 connectors to make one cable!
Get this: I use CAT5 or CAT6 connectors, no problem. Very rare I have a miss crimp with those. So what gives?!...

by grimacelordHello. Samsung UN50MU6070FXZA here with both HDMI ports non-working. I have already verified multiple sources and multiple cables to ensure it isn't something simple like that as well as resets and software updates.
I took the mainboard out and gave it a look. Nothing looks bad or burned. All of the HDMI pins are nice, none are broken at their pads either.
Following the traces, it looks like both HDMI ports trace back to the main CPU which does seem to get hotter than I think it should despite it's (rather poor) heatsink.
Since the HDMI controller appears... -
