LG 60pz950 died a slow death

    Hi guru's,

My 60pz950 died this morning, please could you help me diagnose which board I need to replace. I have not opened the TV yet, I plan to do that tonight, but here is the run down.

A week or so ago, the TV started going blank after a few seconds or minutes of use, the "off" LED did not light up, just the screen went blank. If I turned the TV off (so the "off" LED is lit up), and then back on again, the TV continues to work for another random time period. If I continue the off/on/off/on cycle for a while, the TV would stay on, and work fine all day. Then the next morning, when I turn it on, I have to repeat the on/off/on/off cycle until it stays.

Then this morning, I noticed the TV displaying a shadow of previous images in certain area of the screen (see attached pic). It did this for about 30 minutes, and then went "click" and the screen went blank. on/off/on/off doesnt work anymore, the TV is just dark. There was the smell of electrical unhappiness in the air....

I've no idea if sound works, as this is just a video display from a media server, audio comes via other speakers, not the TV.

Where should I start? Please help, its only a matter of time before the children gang up and attack me!

    Thanks
    Rich

Look at the bottom side of the x and z sus boards for cracked solder joints on the big copper coils.

      Thanks tvtimmy,

I've opened the TV and found that the YSUS has a bad fuse. Changing the fuse is fine, but shouldnt I worry about why the fuse blew in the first place?

with the YSUS out, should the screen do anything if I power on the TV? at least with the YSUS out, the bzzzzzz noise is gone! lol

Yes the fuse popped because the coils went open circuit which eventually lead to the SUS IGBTs going bad. So the Y-sustain will need to be rebuilt because the TV has run too long in a fault condition.

You can attempt a repair the board or replace it. Note you must source the 60" version of this board, if you find a 50PZ950 board it will not work. LG may have used the board in a number of other televisions using the same panel number. Refer to the panel sticker, marked LG PDP60xxxxxx, to locate your panel number. Use EAX number to buy a new board or source repair kit.
Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

thanks both, I took the board to work and gave it to an electrical engineer, most of the gates on the board are blown! I'll have to get a new board.

          thanks again for the replies.

CH341a can erase and read but can't write and blank check
            by hasel17
So I am trying to repair broken thunderbolt FW on X1 Yoga Gen 2. The EEPROM chip is WINBOND 25Q80DVNIG. I already do a back-up and erase. But when I try to wrote new FW, it was successfull, but when I tried to read it, it still blank. when I try to do a blank check, it gave me instant error in address 0. I already tried two CH341A, already did the 3.3v fix mod, using AsProgrammer, NeoProgrammer, Colibri, and CH341A 1.29. But the problem still occurred. What I did wrong here? Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance. Here is the log in Colibri :

MacBook Pro A1708 - CPU extremely slow, locked @ 0.39ghz; fan full speed
            by gjlpereira
            Hi forum.

I'm working on a macbook pro, model a1708, that is running extremely slow.

Everything on it seams to work just fine, it just works extremely slow; painfully slow; especially running macos (windows and linux actually run OKish on it, slow, but usable).
One other symptom of the problem with the machine is that the fan is always running at full speed.

This machine has been worked on by someone else previously; they tried to repair it, but with no success. The motherboard does have sings of being worked on, but it all looks good/OK; like...

            Hanns.G Hi221 Monitor - Works For A Second & Then Blank Display
            by RetroComputingGrotto
I've got a Hanns.G Hi221 Monitor that works for a moment and then the display goes off but the power LED indicator remains on. If you power it off and back on again it does the same thing, it comes on and then the display goes blank. From a cold start it takes 10 seconds or so before the display goes blank but if you turn it off and then back on again after it already being on it goes blank a lot quicker so I'm assuming something is getting hot which is causing the display to go off.

I've uploaded a video of it happening on YouTube:

            I've taken the monitor...

I have a Panasonic TX-48CX350B tv , it powers up ok but the screen is blank, the backlights are working, there’s nothing else though, no picture or sound. I’m not sure what the fault is called whether it’s BLANK/ BLACK/ or WHITE SCREEN I’ve actually came across this before on a similar tv but just ended up scrapping it, I will upload pictures of the boards etc , if anyone could help me I would really appreciate it...

            CPU socket replacement soldering profile
            by Geomih
Hi All - I am hoping someone can help with some pointers (complete noob here!)

I have recently purchased a Scotle HR460 BGA reball machine (it's a bit old and I think the company no longer exists either), but as far as I can tell it is a competent and unmolested machine that should be good enough for my needs.
My biggest problem is that it came with no profiles, and I must re-create all of them from scratch, something that is very scary for someone that doesn't really know what they are doing.
The simple stuff like a small memory module isn't a big deal because there are
