Samsung UN55J6200. Quick question before deciding to mess with this one or not.

I picked up a Samsung UN55J6200 that stopped working after a nearby lightning strike yesterday. It's a relatively new tv, so it might be worth digging into but I have a backlog of about half a dozen to work on for friends and neighbors, so I'm trying to decide if I want to mess with this one or not.

-When plugged in, the red standby light comes on, as normal.

-Press power on either the hard key or remote, results in the red standby light going out. About a second later, the backlights flash the screen in one quick burst and go out. Then the red standby light comes back on.

-There is no flash code. Just red light, no red light, backlight flash, and back to red light.

I have a feeling that the problem is a bad backlight, which I have no motivation to tackle.

Has anyone seen this particular behavior because of anything relatively plug n play, i.e. bad caps, definite failure in an individual board, etc.?

If there is a possibility that this will be a reasonably easy fix, I will abide by the forum rules and take detailed pics of all the internals. I'd just like to pre-screen it, if possible, before getting to deep into a repair I don't have the time to tackle.

    Thanks in advance.

Unplug the main board from the PSU, then plug the tv into mains power. The backlights should turn on. If it does, your problem is the main board.

      As capleaker says.
You are thinking way to hard and you already gave the answer yourself. " After lightningstrike the tv stopped working".

Lightning usually goes via coax/hdmi into the mainboard so unplug mainboard from the P board and turn on the tv. Backlight turning on then you got a bad mainboard.

I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

The backlights come on when the main is unplugged from the power supply. Are there any repair options for the main or do I have to just buy a new one?

        Thanks for the help.

In this case, replace the main board... you'll be chasing and troubleshooting a lot after a set got hit by lightning.
