Re: TCL L65F3500FDS issues - Tcon, panel, or ?

I've ordered the replacement tcon board from the US, so this thread will likely be on hold for a few weeks.

I have reassembled the tv for now, but I can say that unplugging the tcon board resulted in a crisp white screen with no distortion. I never saw any colour tests but I didn't unplug the ldvs for very long

you can see that what it seems a tcon problem (screen divided into 2) is in fact a mainb. one, you can do the test of that user, unplug the tcon lvds cable and see if a self test appears.. Anyway if you say that dismounting the screen bezel and touching screen tabs makes big difference in the video then is a screen problem..
Touching the tabs did nothing. Fingers crossed is the tcon board. Will update in a few weeks once the replacement arrives. Thanks to everyone who has replied

when you say "unplugging the tcon board resulted in a crisp white screen with no distortion" ... did you mean "totally" as in both tcon to panel cables at the same time.... or just one of them?

Well yes, unplugging both would turn the entire screen white; but unplugging either the L or the R cable, by itself, would result in just that half going white.

ok but the half. that wasn't white.... what did the picture show? feed in a good test pattetn (ie. color bars) and look carefully at the result. go from there.

Replacement came in. I installed it only to realise it was missing a connection (see picture, top right of each board). Not ldvs, but not sure what its function is.

Anyways. Plugged everything else in and flicked it on. Problems has changed but it all still seems pretty fucked.

Soooo I'm selling it off to the next person who wants to have a go. Thanks for all the replies in here, maybe one day I'll return to the tv repair game, but for now I'm gonna do it the easy way and just buy used

You bought the wrong board. The number you should have quoted when ordered was: the number on the white paper label and NOT the number on the board.
