Just reporting back - Replacement of the FET on the main board went well. Tested the TCON board outside the set with an external power supply (12 V) and current-limited shows a short on the board after replacing the fuse and both Diodes. Though the cap on the output didn't test "short" on the board and passed ESR test, upon applying voltage across it, it goes to almost short. Replacing the cap with a 25V 4.7uF did the trick.
