Vertical, sorry that pic is upside down. Also hazy colors on the sides that come and fade away.

Maybe try heating up mainboard with a hair dryer, check for changes in picture.

Looks like some have fixed theirs by flipping the data cable that goes from powersupply to mainboard, bad or dirty connection I guess.

Bad panel due to those dark clouds on the sides.

Bad panel was my first thought, the vertical lines looked same as this video, a lot of the replies said it cleared the problem up:

Dark patches of dark clouds are the give away for bad panel.

It's the cable going between the two big boards.

I understand that, but that does not carry any video data as far as I know. They had an issue with the TV cycling on and off which makes more sense though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKqDYCkBPJk was wrong video, meant to post this one BUT he seems to have vertical lines but no black blotches like you have which probably means a bad panel.

I try one ribbon cable at a time that goes into the panel. Yuck
                                another LCD with tcon embedded.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.

TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

                                    tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
                                    by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

I came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).

When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.

Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...
