    Successful LCD panel repair XBR55X850B

Picked up this TV yesterday. Original owner said screen went out. Rather vague but OK as long as I didn't see any cracks I said why not. Only 40 bucks. My 65 cost 2300 new! It's a 55" version of the 65" and I've had for 3 years running strong up on the wall.

When turned on right side black left side white with faint vertical stripes.

My 1st rule of measure was to pull all covers off to expose LCD source driver boards on the panel itself.

This is after trying one ribbon at a time trick. Left side would show a faint picture right side remained black.

Checked MLCC capacitors and found right side shorted. Look for the lowest resistance reading in found one reading .7 Ω where the others are reading 1.8 Ω. So I went ahead and removed it knowing that all these capacitors work in series. The bad capacitor was the 1st one nearest the ribbons that go into the source board from the tcon.

Powered up and have perfect picture!

Removal pics to come as soon as I can find my USB cord.

So you got the low reading while in circuit or did you pull a leg?

I got the low resistance reading in circuits. Remember to remove tcon ribbons 1st. I look for the lowest resistance reading on each of the 8 across the right. When you find the lowest resistance reading capacitor pull it cause that is usually the problem. Capacitors along source driver boards on panels should never have a low resistance reading. Not too sure why these things short out but it does happen.

Btw this is an LG built panel and tcon. Sony proprietary mainboard. The XBR75X850c had the same problem as well. That was a Samsung built panel. (S corp.) Which used to be a joint Sony/Samsung company sold primarily to Samsung Holdings a few years ago.

Yet another Samsung QLED Boot Loop

Samsung QLED QN50Q — purchased 2022 started experiencing a delay in the picture coming on in the morning less than 2 years later. Did not know the term boot loop at that time. As the loop delay ran into a few minutes did all the recommended troubleshooting, soft and hard reset, changing cables and outlet locations, no help. As the delay increased contacted Samsung tech group and allow them remote access the tv. Tech was moving too fast to see exactly what he was doing but this ultimately it was also no help. Lived with the delay until it stretched out over 6 hours. Pulled of off the back cover...

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
                        by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...

                        QN55Q60R Service Menu Panel Help
                        by Storyteller12
I had a the above tv qn55q60r that had a bad panel but everything else good. I had another panel here from un55nu6900 with bad leds and melted diffusers.

I put the nu6900 panel in and powered it up and it does work but there are lines vertical lines.

I was trying to change the panel type in the service menu but don’t see my exact panel. Anyway to fix this or someone have similar experience.

the clear picture is the panel type from the service menus on the nu6900. The other 1 is the panel type that was set for the q60r with the bad panel....

Panasonic 55DX600u second fault - panel brightness pulsing on right side
                        by fixxy88
After getting the backlights up and running a second fault has emerged on this TV. I was going accept defeat and move on but thought I'd have a quick look at it in case it was something simple. The right side of the display exhibits a panel brightness (not backlight brightness) pulse every 2-3 seconds in a stable timing.

I poked about on the TCON test points and found one voltage that is fluctuating in the same pattern. VGH-ODD (Pin 47 of U10) is sitting at ~-6.5v then goes up to ~28v when the brightness pulses then goes back down to ~-6.5v again in a repeating pattern.

                        TV Model: Hitachi 40HYC42
                        Power Supply: 17IPS71
                        MainBoard: 17MB95M
                        Panel: VES400UNDS-2D-NO3

When the set came in it was dead. Fuse was open primary side and the power mosfet was shorted. So I ordered a new power supply. Now it turns on, only displays "Hitachi" and then power off red and blue led flashing.

I had to modify the 0ohm resistors in the led backlight of the new PS like the original power supply.
Is there any variants on 17IPS71 power supply's?
