Samsung UE40ES5700S blinks 5x2 in loop

    Hi Forum,

I have a Samsung UE40ES5700S (found in the dumpster) which blinks five times doubleblinks (in all 10 times) and after 3-4 sec. it blinks again.
So I don't know the history of the set.

I've already tried the factory reset (shorting pins)

    Model: UE40ES5700SXZG
    Mainboard: BN41-01660A
    PSU: BN44-00423A
    Panel: LTJ400HM03-J

Is this a typical boot loop (bricked?) or an other issue?

Re: Samsung UE40ES5700S blinks 5x2 in loop

I can't recall getting word of Samsungs giving blink codes. It seems that both Samsung and LG, when there's a faulty part, just keep cycling...

They seem to lack blink codes, unlike Sharp, Panasonic and Sony.

More likely a power-on-and-power-off loop. Solder joints are suspect when there's symptoms like that...

Re: Samsung UE40D5700RSXZG blinks 5x2 in loop

          Dear all,

fist of all, I'm very sorry as I've made an mistake by naming the Model.

It's an Samsung UE40D5700RSXZG. The other one is also at my workbench.

Lesson Learned: DON'T TRUST YOUR MEMORY :-)

          @thoma:

          The following happens:

Disconnect the main from the PSU - no blink -> logical as the status LED is connected to the main.
Disconnect the tcon from the main - blink
Disconnect the backlight from the PSU an keep the main connected - blink

          Overall there is no backlight.

          I've measured the voltages.

          There are two scenarios;

          Scenario 1: Mainboard disconnected:

          CNM803

          1 0,30
          2 -
          3 0,30
          4 -
          5 0,30
          6 -
          7 0,30
          8 GND
          9 GND
          10 GND
          11 -
          12 5,31
          13 -
          14 3,14
          15 -
          16 -

          Voltages are stable.

          Scenario 2: Mainboard connected:

NOTE: The voltages 1,3,5,7 and 14 cycling from 0 to the given Voltage in sync to the LED blinking.

          CNM803

          1 0,27
          2 -
          3 0,27
          4 -
          5 0,27
          6 -
          7 0,27
          8 GND
          9 GND
          10 GND
          11 -
          12 5,31
          13 -
          14 3,38
          15 -
          16 -

The 13 Volts are not there

It looks like you count the pin of the CN803A (not 803) wrong, see the chart for the CN803A.
            CN803A is 16-pin, CN803 is 14-pin.
You have CN803A so no way you can have 5.31V at pin 12 because pin 12 of CN803A is GND!
The exposed pins you are seeing on the top side of the board are ODD number pins, the EVEN number pins are located on the bottom side of the board.
So you need to retest the Voltages of all those pin again and you MUST pin down the pin names and follow by the Voltage readings so we can easily see if the Voltages are correct or not.
I am not sure if this BN44-00423A has pull-up resistors for self test or not, I have to look at my notes later.

                  Hi thoma,

                  thank you.

I've already tried the EEPROM reset with no success.
Also the freezing of IC1302 did not helped. Will try it again later the day.

Will check the other sugestions in the

Did you try to just apply mains to the power supply with mainboard disconnected? I think you missed that option if i look at what you did ....

Normally the backlight should turn on. These models are notorious for bad BGA Solder under the cpu.

EDIT : I read mains not main....

Let the tv blink and heat up the powersupply for about 2/3 minutes with a heatgun/hairdryer. See if it turns on by itself , i had that with 32"version and this powersupply.

@Moreno, I will try that. Also will try to reflow the CPU as I have a T-862++

@thoma: Will check the content in the link.

                        Intresting:

I've also tried to do the EEPROM reset again. I've noticed the following: If I let the pins shorted and unplug the power cord the system keeps blinking (discharging of caps?). As soon as I remove the wire the system stops blinking.

You do have PS-ON (POWER ON/OFF) of 3.14V so the switched 13V, B5V, and the Vamp Voltages should be present.

I do not understand this statement "If POWER ON the voltages 3,5,7,9 and 16 alternating from 0V to the given voltage in sync to the LED blinking (reastart)."

                              Hi Budm,

I'll try to make a video and upload it as a ZIP-file.

                              From my memory :-) ...
When the cycle of 10 Blinks is done, the TV trys to start.
Indiation of this beavior is as the litle Front-LED lights up for about 3 seconds and I hear an realy silent electical "zzzzz". During that moment the Voltages are at the highes level. During the Blinking they drop to 0V.

But if you do not have the power supply board connected to the main board, does the PS-ON Voltage go up and down?
Right now based on your Voltage readings of the power supply board without main board connected, it shows you have at least the problem with the power supply board due to lack of switched Voltages.

Based on your readings without the main board connected; At this point you need to get the power supply board to work correctly first which means it should have the B5V, Vamp (about 13V), and the B13V when running the power supply board by itself.
After that you will work on the main board.

                                      hey,

I've replaced the PSU as I got a used for 20€ inc. shipping.
The seller is a semi-professional "Used TV Hardware Guy" and seems to be trustworthy.

The TV worked for approx. 5-6 min.

                                      What happend:

                                      1 Samsung Logo appeared
                                      2 TV Started.
3 No Sound available (Tested via FireTV Stick)
4 Reset the system via menu options (picture and sound).
5 TV still works for ~3 Min.
                                      6 TV flickers.
                                      7 TV goes black.
8 No backlight and no picture using the flashlight trick.
9 TV still receives commands via remote - little front LED blinks if I push buttons.

Restart of the system = Black Screen, TV still receives commands via remote - little front LED blinks if I push buttons..

If I detach the Mainboard from the PSU the Backlight starts.

Did I killed the Mainboard during my previous "reflow", "freezing" activities?

                                      kr

Maybe retest the new powersupply voltages with everything connected, see if your bl on voltage is there.

Did not know the term boot loop at that time. As the loop delay ran into a few minutes did all the recommended troubleshooting, soft and hard reset, changing cables and outlet locations, no help. As the delay increased contacted Samsung tech group and allow them remote access the tv. Tech was moving too fast to see exactly what he was doing but this ultimately it was also no help. Lived with the delay until it stretched out over 6 hours. Pulled of off the back cover...

Hi, I rescued a Samsung UN40H5003AF (H = 2014 FHD) from the curb. Symptoms are: standby (red) light comes on, stays on for 8 seconds, flickers off, then comes back on, and the cycle continues.

                                          Service manual: https://www.electronica-pt.com/esque...is-u8la-71272/

SMPS board: checked voltages, all seem normal (A13V = 12.8V, UD = 3.3V, PWM_BLU = 0.77V, PS_OnOff = 5.5V). Remove 10p cable to main board -> backlight comes on. I think this means SMPS board and backlight are good.

I have a Samsung UE75TU6905 from 2021, with a maximum of 10 hours of usage as it has been used as a presentation TV in the office. It started rebooting, the picture disappears, the sound continues for 2-3 seconds, and then it restarts (Samsung logo with Tizen OS), after which it returns to the previous activity. I tried disconnecting HDMI, antenna, WiFi, and using different power outlets, and it seemed to improve (or so I thought). Before, it happened occasionally, but now it happens all the time, so the TV stays on for a maximum of 30 seconds.

I read on Samsung's website (reviews)...
