    Samsung P2770HD problem found, but....

I've been reading all that I could about the Samsung P2770HD on this forum. It has the issue where the channel info or picture would show momentarily then goes to black after powering on. I've checked the caps visually and with an ECR meter and they're fine. The diodes measured fine. Voltages from the power supply to the main board were in spec. I then checked the continuity on the transformer, 1.3k ohm on one secondary but the other is open. After removing it from the board, I can see that the open side is scorched. Third photo will show some scorching. Fourth photo will show the 3rd winding from the right toasted.

I've now ordered a new one, TM-09210, thru Ebay from China. Estimated arrival will be between Feb 8th and Mar 1st and Chinese New Year is in the middle of Feb. Oh well. Should there be anything else I should look at while I'm waiting? What would have caused the transformer to fry? Thanks everyone.

Just received the new transformer today and it's soldered back into the power supply board. The TV is working again. Since this was my Mom's old TV, I went and checked the backlight, contrast, and brightness settings to see and they were all maxed out. No wonder the old transformer overheated. All the settings are backed off now. Hopefully this set sill last a few more years.

Transformer was the culprit on mine too. Changed that and some of the caps from SamYoung to Panasonic, just in case. Thanks!
