I believe the connections are OK since you can hear the tone or the frequency changes between picture scenes on the sustain boards.

It is possible that the signal out is being muted to the panel because of that 1 contact not making proper connection to the panel. Are all the connections good and firmly connected that from the sustain board to that scan board?
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

May also be worth seeing if it is possible to access the service menu and do a test pattern check (will need RS232 to USB cable and some computer knowledge)

The guy who did the chip should have put RTV silicone on the IC as high humidity can cause arcing between those pins (reliability issue.) That's what the blue stuff that was originally on the ICs pins is there for.

I would like Freak suggest that one line appears to be poorly soldered, the overall quality of the soldering is ok but it's not very cleaned up, it needs another look I think.

All connections are firm from what I can tell. I agree the solder job was below average and no silicone film was applied afterwards. I can take it back but before I do I need to be sure it's not something else. Any diagnostics I can do to get a picture? Or is the poor solder job causing this?

I feel like we are close! Even the guys at the store all hovered around the plasma saying ... ohhhh they don't make em like this anymore. The panel will last for ever...they don't leak. Anyways, I am not giving up yet damn it.

Tom - (will need RS232 to USB cable and some computer knowledge) I am very computer literate so that is not a problem except what is an RS232?

P.S. Tom, if you want a Tesla, there is one heading toward Mars and will be there in about 6 months. Just saying.

Yes Freak, I hear frequency changes between picture scenes. Glad you saw what I was trying to say.

I honestly think that IF all connections are good and tight, I can see that you're panel is priming so there should be no problem with the sustain boards, The only thing I would say is that not one pin is not making connection with the panel I believe that could throw everything off.

Especially since we know that the tv was attempting to deliver a picture before the shorted scan IC.

And yes I can't believe they jettisoned a perfectly good Tesla off into outer space. I drive a Prius, (because I have to to offset my wife's spending habits) Even though it's not quite a Tesla, I've actually grown quite fond of electric cars coming from someone that has a Z06 Corvette. Lol

Is there a way to see if that one pin is causing it? I figured out what Tom meant about the RS232 to USB cable.

You would need to connect your PC up to your panel using RS232 to USB cable then use a program like RealTerm to send the TV commands.

                https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials...l-term-windows

                TV must be in standby

Send the command (**PON) with hex 0x02 and 0x01 around the command. Do this by using the send hex mode.

If the TV powers on when you send this, you can communicate with it using this method.

Baud rate is 9600, mode 8N1 (8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit)

Thanks Tom. I downloaded the software. I just need the rs232 to USB cable. If I can communicate with the TV, what would I be looking for?

We should be able to send requests to the TV controller to generate test patterns, also may be able to ask it what its status is.

I don't see a male connection on the TV that would fit an rs232....that looks like the picture below.

Also, is it plausible that the solder job is causing this?

Is there any checks I can do with the volt meter? What about replacing the Y main board and X main board?

                        Hi everyone,

I am trying to fix a samsung washinmachine power supply main board.
I already replaced it with another one to fix the machine but i want to try understand the issue with the old board.
Therefore i hope to be able to get some help to explain what to check in order to troubleshoot.
The power supply board reference is the following: DC41-00189a

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

I have a floodlight-security camera that recently died on me.

its hardwired to 115v po115v outlet. One evening it simply died. After some troubleshooting (ensuring it had power and ensuring the electronics were actually functional by supplying 5v via usb port) i realized the power supply must be the issue. The supply was noticably warm to the touch even though it was not powering anything.

Trying to understand what i was up against i went looking for others with similar issues and anyone who might have attempted a repair. While a few ppl have had the...

Samsung Plasma TV Power Supply Issue
                        by lp20th
I have a vintage 2008 Samsung 50” Plasma TV, Model code PN50A550S1FXZA with a power supply part number BN44-00222A. I repaired the power supply board several years ago finding a couple of cold solder joints on the back side of the board and it's worked great up until now. Recently a fried sound occurred with the smell of burnt electronics and the TV shut down. Trying to turn it back on yielded the typical relay clicking with no TV boot up. Upon investigation, removing feeds to the other boards within the TV it was found that disconnecting the logic board from the power supply allowed the...
