Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?

budm, The last LED on strip 6 was dead and when I removed it it was bridged. I didn't have any solder wick and trying to unbridge it with just my soldering iron didn't work, so I got the not so bright idea to snip off the last LED of sting 6 and replace it with 1 of the LED strip pieces I bought not realizing it would cause all the headaches that it did.

Is there anyway to fix the spotlight looking circles?

    thanks

I had a quick look at my disassembled panel. I only see three sheets - a thick plastic sheet which goes against the light box and two other ones which seem identical sandwich themselves between the thick sheet and the panel.

Keep in mind the few times I've done this type of job I've removed the back from the panel so as not to disturb the LCD screen too much so if this doesn't help much let me know and I'll disturb them a little more for you.

And mine had three open LEDs as well - one in each pair. There was a fourth that lit with my Led tester but wouldn't respond to the dmm diode test so was probably drawing too much current and replaced that one as well.

Only had a few Samsung Edge lit LEDs so used those. Brightness is good but the colour temperature is off by a bit. Keeping this so my wife can watch Netflix on it and she doesn't have the discerning eye that I have so won't bother her

Thanks for the info on the sheets..I took the TV back apart and your right there are 3 sheets. I have the thick frosted down first, then a sorta clear shiny sheet and the top on mine is a thin white sheet.

I think I had them on right, but I handled them with bare hands (big mistake) and they separated a bit allowing dust and pet hair to get on them along with finger prints.
I tried my best to clean the sheets with a micro fiber cloth which helped a bunch, but I think I killed the screen on reassembly as I now get no picture at all..It could be that I dont have the tcon cables seated properly (I hope that's it).

So when you take a screen out you lay it LCD side down? I may try that if I mess with a TV with back light trouble in the future.

          thanks

In your previous pic you can clearly see many of the individual leds on four of the strips.

There is not a one lit of the middle two strips.

Do the flashlight test and see if there is indeed a picture and your backlights have not burned out again.

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?

You was right. The TV had another LED that went out killing the middle 2 strips.
I replaced the LED and all the strips were back to working.
Everything went fine until I was putting on the front bezel that holds the panel down. I was trying to get the left corner on and it was being stubborn.
When it finally let go and went on it cracked the LCD in the corner. ugh!
I think the LCD must of not been flush with its mounting surface.

Would that kill the whole panel though? if so that's a shame because it could've still been used as a garage/basement/kids TV.

Oh well if it's game over I have some spare parts and it was fun to tinker.

                thanks

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?

Odd, I would expect to see some evidence on screen even if it were broken. Double check your connections. If everything looks good try running with only one panel ribbon connected one side at a time to verify broken panel.

The reassembly is tricky with all the slot and groove trim pieces. I found out one of my sheets had slid down out of place. It's adjusted now will have a go tonight at getting these pieces in place and the bezel on for a test.

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?

I tried reseating the cables and testing with 1 cable attached at a time and still no luck. Either the panel is completely kaput thanks to that small crack in the corner or maybe something shorted out somewhere.
I also rechecked all the voltages and everything is good in that respect.

Those plastic pieces that hold down the sheets are a real pain to get back on..I struggled for over an hour to get them snapped back in.

On a positive note this was my first attempt at repairing backlights and although not successful on this TV I took what I learned and successfully repaired a 39" Proscan that had 3 dead LEDs.

let me know how your TV turns out..hopefully you'll have better luck then me.

                    thanks

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?

It took me a bit of time to figure out how those trim pieces were meant to be seated. After that and realigning one of the sheets it went pretty smooth. I found the tcon cables we're at a bit of an angle and didn't want to seat properly either.

I don't see any difference between the LEDs I used vs the stock LEDs.

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                            Another TV topic!!
I got this sharp TV that when I first plugged it in it showed the sharp logo and then went to the input screen. This was about 30 seconds and then it showed white screen. Now I can't see anything but white screen. This has a separate TCON and Main.

The TCON is getting 12V and several parts are as well but the VGH line is only .5Volts which I thought is totally incorrect.

Am I on the correct assumption that the TCON is bad somehow if I'm only getting that voltage or is there something else I should check?...

I have a older eddy current tester made by Olympus that uses interchangeable TFT-LCD screens. I have two devices that each take the same removable screens. One is an Olympus NORTEC 200D+ and the other is an Olympus SONIC 1200M EMI. I have searched the internet high and low for service manuals for these units with no luck. Both these units were used extensively by the US military for NDT on airplanes. The detachable screen plugs into the base unit via a weird non standard VGA connector. Buttons on the removable display are used to power the units on. When the power button is pressed the unit makes...

                            by scubacamper
I found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display...

                            Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...
