Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?
OK, so now we know for sure there is no current return on the two black wires.
You will have to make sure next that the feeding +Voltage actual gets right to the termilal of the LED strip next.
See this thread to see why, speciall on post #18:

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?
With the TV plugged in and powered on testing at the + at the head end of each strip I get the following voltage (from the top strip down)
1. 38.6v and causes the strip below it (strip 2) to dimly light all 11 LEDs.
2. 65.4v
3. 38.6v and causes strip 4 to dimly light up.
4. 64.4v
5. 0v there's a problem here somewhere, but not sure what..each bulb lights individually when checked with DMM in diode mode.
6. 65.4v
I think I'm getting closer..whatever is causing strip 5 to have 0v is probably the main problem?

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?
One thing is not so clear as how all 6 strips are wired up.
It has FIVE wires from the the strips, THREE red wires are all connected to the V+ but only TWO returns wires, I expect FOUR wires for two set of LED strips.
Is there any way you can tell me how all six strips are wired?Never stop learning

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?
There is 3 black and 3 red wires coming in to the front of the panel (where the LED strips are) and from the top strip down they are.
1. black black
2. black red
3. black black
4. black red
5. black black
6. black red
is that what u mean or do I need to trace them to the power board?

Not really, each strip has two wires but some how it ends up with just 5 wires at the LED connector.Never stop learning

So it looks like one LED drive has two set of LED STRINGS connected in parallel, then another driver has only one set of LED string.Last edited by budm; 01-25-2018, 10:29 AM.Never stop learning

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?
I cant seem to figure out why strip #5 has no voltage..I don't see any damage to the wires.
Can a new wire be routed to it or jumped from the positive side of another strip or would that be a bad idea?
thanksComment

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?
All three red wires are tied together at the LED connector at the power supply board.
If you measure the Voltage right at the #5 LED strip terminal of the SMD connector pin that is soldered to the LED strip where the red wire is, do you get the Voltage there?
Or if you check the resistance of the pin above all the way back the power supply board soldered pin, does it show 0 Ohms or so.
The strip is also linked by the SMD connector that can be bad, otherwise you can also swab the #5 LED string with other to see if the problem will follow.Never stop learning

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?
I dont get any voltage at the connector..both wires going to #5 are black if that matters?
The resistance from positive pin on LED strip #5 to where the 2 black wires are connected on PSU +VLED1 my DMM shows 1. Ground on #5 to +VLED1 is 0 (might of been the other way around).
I tried swapping a right from strip #3 to the right for strip #5. Plugged it in and turned it on and 2 strips lit up (in the middel) for about 10 seconds and then they all went back out. Retested all the LEDs 1 by 1 again and 1 of the LEDs in strip #4 was out.
I replaced the bad LED and swapped the strips back..still no back lights.
this thing is kickin my butt..lolLast edited by Gorrillasnot; 01-25-2018, 08:31 PM.Comment

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?
Yep all the LEDs were working, when I mean working I mean they would light individually when tested with DMM in diode mode (not working when TV plugged in and turned on).
When I swapped strip 3 to strip 5 it lit 2 of the middle strips for a few seconds then they went out so I unplugged the tv and retested each LED in diode mode and found 1 bad 1 in strip 4 (right side)..I'm guessing something is shorted and when I swapped strips it blew the LED in strip 4.Comment

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?
OK, if you look at the attached picture, you can see that trip #5 is connected in series with strip #6 to form one LED string.
Please look at how strip 1~ 4 are connected.
Is strip #1 connected in series with #2?
Is strip # 3 connected in series with #4?
If you can take pictures, that will help.
Once I know how they are connected then I can tell you how to test each string one at a time.Never stop learning

Re: Sharp LC-50LB370U Where to buy LED Strips?
The #5 and #6 are easy to see how they are wired up together, but the other 4 strips are hard to tell due to the taps are holding the bundle of wires together, not like the #5 and #5.
You will have to remove the tapes and un-bundle the wires.Never stop learning

by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
by EazyBoneAnother TV topic!!
I got this sharp TV that when I first plugged it in it showed the sharp logo and then went to the input screen. This was about 30 seconds and then it showed white screen. Now I can't see anything but white screen. This has a separate TCON and Main.
The TCON is getting 12V and several parts are as well but the VGH line is only .5Volts which I thought is totally incorrect.
Am I on the correct assumption that the TCON is bad somehow if I'm only getting that voltage or is there something else I should check?... -
by Mad_ScienceI have a older eddy current tester made by Olympus that uses interchangeable TFT-LCD screens. I have two devices that each take the same removable screens. One is an Olympus NORTEC 200D+ and the other is an Olympus SONIC 1200M EMI. I have searched the internet high and low for service manuals for these units with no luck. Both these units were used extensively by the US military for NDT on airplanes. The detachable screen plugs into the base unit via a weird non standard VGA connector. Buttons on the removable display are used to power the units on. When the power button is pressed the unit makes...

by scubacamperI found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display... -
by smic717394Hi,
I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on... - Loading...
