Shopjimmy has 3 fairly cheap. You could think of it as an investment into the fault finding process.
May be money wasted, may fix it, may help prove it's something else.

Depends, You say it does not 8 blink straight away. so was it on long enough to prove anything?

The power to the tv came on but had no video at all. Before I could leave the tv on with nothing hooked up and it would stay on until it shut off for inactivity. It never went to 8 blinks until I played a dvd and then 15 minutes in it would shut down and blink.

That looks like the mainboard has to do some effort ( displaying a picture ).

What happens when you turn on ECO mode? Does it stay on for a longer period of time?
