    Element ELEFT502 Backlight problem.

So yesterday my t.v. decides to crap out on me. I also tried to look this up since i have seen this post on this website before, but i couldn't find anything that i understood or helped me.

I have sound and picture but no back light I've taken apart the back and board, took a look at the joints and tried to use a multi meter to see if I could isolate the issue. The only thing I found is that I'm not getting any power being sent to my led lights. So my question being what can i check to see that could be causing the issue. Caps look good and no bulges.

*update* after trying to see how much voltage I was getting along the joints, I accidentally pushed the live board against the metal frame causing a short and the backlights lit up for a split second. So I'm guessing it might be the power board but not sure how/where to check.

Pics below. Please help I'm not that great with electrical stuff.

Replace the PSU with one off e-bay.

Here's a question for anyone, how much voltage is required for the L.E.D.S on this particular tv? I'd like to be able to check if they're burned out / splice them into the board at a different point to bypass the mainboard and just have them come on when tv is on.

That sounds like you are trying to re-engineer this TV. If you send a pic of the PSU-the jack that go to the Main Bd, so we could see the labels of the pins, We may be able to do a 'self-test' to see if your problem is the PSU. BTW do you have 5Vdc Stand-by??

I'll send the pictures after work. But not trying to reingineer it just bypass the adjustor? I'd rather have the led stay on full bright if it means getting the tv to work. Also not sure how to check if it has 5v standby. I'm basically a novice if I see a bad cap/obvious problem I can fix it. But troubleshooting is a lot harder for me.

Andrew no point in sending pics, plugged the powercable in and now the board is completely dead. Making this kind of sound like a chirping heartbeat (if that makes sense) every 1-2 chi-chirp. I think I might just might the bullet and buy the psu and hope for the best. Unless its an easy fix idk.
