    Sony KDL-52NX800 split screen

So here it is, a Sony problem.

    Model KDL-52NX800 SN#8037622

This set was working fine the evening before, the next morning a split black and white screen. No warnings just toast. I can not bring up the menu, there is no picture from any input on either side. It just stays black and white.

I have opened her up, disconnected all connectors and re-sat them. I have pulled out the t-con board and power board to look for shorts or obvious problems. I shook the boards violently and yelled at them to no avail. I put it all back together with no extra parts and got the same screen. I have not pulled off the front bezel.

I have read many posts and have an idea of what it may be but would like to see what is thought by someone a little more experienced in this realm than myself.

    any thoughts?

it's a sony, there fore, you have a bad panel.

you can apply pressure to the bezel or give it a twist and it may effect the image.

i seriously can't believe that yelling at it didn't fix it. maybe yell louder next time.

I have a Samsung 42" with a similar looking picture to the right half of your first photo. If I constantly switch between sources I can get the screen to show a complete picture but still have lines down it. I know I have a duff panel.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Ok, bad panel, and by that you are referring to the LCD panel itself and not one of the boards?

And yes the yelling did not work, next time I am getting the mega phone out.

if you remove the metal casing around the front of the panel and put pressure on the cof chips (chip on flex), you should be able to see if the picture alters or even comes good while the pressure is maintained. it will most likely be the right hand side as you are looking at the front of the panel. sometimes you can patch this fault, but it is by no means a repair, or permanent.
