I think the backlight was always on 100 too but it had to be the first time it was failing otherwise it kept flickering between dim and full brightness even though it was down which I suspect was the uneven load on the driver board. It's still going to cost over 100 to fix it but it's still about a third of the price of buying an equivalent TV or actually less considering an LG like that would probably cost near 500 still.
If you don't have an LED tester, you can try and connect some 9 volt batteries in series. Assume every LED needs 3V. Sum up the numbers and connect the amount of batteries you need. Then use it as a tester, but be careful, since you are building up some voltage even though it is only batteries

Took out the LED strips. Took a long time to dig them out.

4 x strips with 52 LEDs, and each LED is ~.720V drop.
So, 52 x 0.720 = 37.44V for one strip, and I'm assuming the 65.9V output from the driver powers two of the strips in series.

I measured all the LEDs individually, none are shorted, but some have a >.8V drop.

0.720v drops, that cannot be right at all. How did you go about testing the Vf of each LED?

I suspect each strip is divided in two, so 26 led's X 3V 78volts, the power supply outputs 89V/0.96A, and the control circuit likely accounts for the extra 11v. I believe there are 8 led control lines on this led driver board.

These are so small I couldn't even see the + and - on the two pins on the left. I measured the pins in diode mode and the multimeter is seeing a diode, the cathode of that diode being on the + pin.

My multimeter will not measure a 3V diode, it only goes up to 1V I think. I have a power supply here that I can set to 3V and limit the current to 10ma, so I could test the diodes by putting the pins across the + and -

I forgot I had one of these.

Tested all the LEDs individually and they all light up. So maybe it is the driver board.

What is it? Battery holder and leads but what voltage out?

I went through all 52 LEDs on all four strips and they all light up.

Well things have just got interesting. I did what I should have done in the first place, pulled out the LED power cables and wired it up on the desk. When I power on the TV, I see the following before the LED strips shut down completely

So I said "okay I DO have a dodgy strip". BUT, when I swop the four backlight cables, the fault follows the cable. It seems very unlikely that the backlight cable has been damaged but I will try and somehow work out some replacement wires for testing.

this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U - Replaced Backlight LEDs but now no image/display or garbled
                          by signal.quest
I have a Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U. The TV was given to me as an attempt to fix or throw out. I replaced the Backlight LEDs and now the screen lights up, but there is no image/display. If I play with the up/down buttons I can get the display to change from black to garbled. I can't get sound from HDMI but not sure of what input is selected. I have no remote control. When I connect a laptop to the HDMI ports it recognizes a Panasonic TV for display and sound output but I can't see or hear anything through the TV. This makes me think the mainboard is OK, but not sure if mainboard can...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
                          by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

                          by canadaboy25
                          Hi all,

I've got an LG Flatron 24EN33TA with a backlight issue. The problem began with the monitor not powering up after sitting for a long time (overnight or during the day throughout work). When I would wake the computer up, the backlight would flick on for a second then go out. Sometimes it would take many tries to get it to come on. Once the monitor came on, it worked flawlessly until another long duration of being powered off.

I thought the problem would be bad caps but I checked both of the caps on the board and they are fine. I also tried powering the monitor from...

                          Replaced HiSense 75H6570G backlight
                          by howardc64
TV has 2 strings of LED backlight. 1 string had 1x LED failure. Replaced all LED light bar (thought about replacing just 1 bar but new bar LED color more white compared to old)

The large screen and HiSense reflector paper assembly presented some challenges over the smaller screens.

                          - 75" TV is huge, need 2x large work surface (1 for TV, 1 for LCD panel)
                          - White reflector paper in the tub is secured by 10 columns and 1 row (on top the tub) of double sided sticky tape. Took awhile (need to go slow to avoid/minimize damage) to remove with minimal damage.
