This problem never got resolve, I had the same problem on the same model Vizio. this maybe firmware related but not 100% sure.

I had to replace the main board in this case.

I wonder if a complete factory reset would do the job and make certain it's set up for NTSC reception.

OK... but what is the status presented on the screen with each press of the tv... NOTE: does it actually change with each depress? I am not sure there is a "visual indication" change for "TV" versus "DTV".... my guess based on the manual that was provided in the thread.

I had a DTV scan problem on a Samsung whereby the DTV option just didn't show - turned out to be corruption of service menu when some caps went bad. Now a strange one - I have read somewhere some time back of a tuning scan problem - fix was to disconnect antenna and run a scan then connect antenna and run scan again - for what its worth!

you have to push the tv button again... that cycles the connection between "tv" and "dtv".

Please excuse the bad pics. I'm in a hurry on my way to work. I have disconnected and reconnected power cord as well as antenna. to reset tv . It will not work. . also there is no tv/dtv button. there is tv/dtv connection. its the same exact connection! there is no tv/dtv/ button. there is tv if you push it , it does not change to dtv. that must be some other model. as you can see there is just 2 modes on tuner. air and cable. i was showing the other screen just so you could see digital is greyed out. When I try the auto scan it will only scan analog. it will never scan digital.

A further "ah ha". this has correctly identified the issue. You are currently selected as "TV" which means the in coming connection on the coax connector is expecting to see rf coming from things like a vcr or an "analog antenna signal". You need to press the "tv" button to select "DTV" instead of "TV" (the button has a dual "switching function" to switch the coax connection switch internal to the tv).

I wasn't referring to the TV side of things... there is only one coax connector on the TV... I was talking about where the "other end" of the cable was plugged into... a wall plate, an outside cable, what? IF its the same "cable point" that your were plugged into before and said you were "taking cable tv service" and now you want to use "antenna" on the same connection... something has to change at the "far end" of the incoming cable connection. Basically, how about a picture of your tv antenna that you are trying to use.

You should be able to scan for digital channels with and without any antenna attached to the TV. You can't even get the thing to scan, so don't waste money on a new antenna.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

    Assuming...

    Hi Guys
I have a customer who has two Hitachi TVs in his bar, one is the model in the thread title and the other is a larger screen but has the same setup menu

    Vizio M65-C1

    Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

    Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

    Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...
