    Faulty LG42LW450U - opinions needed(video)

I've had this TV around 5-6 years and yesterday I got a a full screen of horizontal lines around 3mm apart.

When I turned the tv on the next time I was greeted with what's shown in the video below. I have had the tv on since the video was taken and at present only the bottom third of the tv is freezing intermittently.

There is a lot going on with this tv and as much as I would like try and save it I'm worried the panel has had it.

    Any opinions much appreciated.

I'm thinking along the lines of possibly the mainboard, main processor chip BGA solders breaking. The LGs around that time seem to have a common fault with it, both Plasma and LCD. Often the end will result is turning on, no display.

I've got a top end 3D model around the same time as yours and after a reheat it came back but with lots of vertical lines through it. it died completely after I cooked the chip

      Thanks for the post.

It's actually just got the lines now, the rest has just faded away after the tv has warmed up.

Roughly how long did you get out of yours before it died?

Can't answer that because I got it broken and tried fixing it. Expect it to get worse, may loose inputs, HDMI etc.

I think that the LCD panel is faulty. Try the "Tab Bond" repair but it not might be really successful in this model. If that dosen't make any difference then the panel has gone bad.

looks like tab bonds or ribbon cables to me.
