Re: Sony 42w653a
What voltages do you have or not have on the power supply?
Focused photo of the power supply?Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Re: Sony 42w653a
So it uses an external power supply to power the internal combined mainboard/power supply.
There appear to be a number of fuses marked on the board. Have you located and checked each one.
Have you checked the incoming voltage from the external power supply is 19.5V when connected to the tv.Last edited by dick_barton; 08-25-2017, 01:17 PM.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

To test the fuses, set switched off and meter set to ohms, place your red and black probe on each side of the fuse and it should measure 0 ohms or close enough for a good fuse.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Re: Sony 42w653a
Voltage, yes the set needs to be plugged in, else you'd measure zero.
Ohms, no. Some cheap meters can be damaged by measuring ohms when voltage is applied. Most are okay, just not the very cheapest. In any instance, it will not give you an accurate reading. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by CSM123Have KDL-55HX850 that seems to have been hit by power surge.
Blinking red 3x - clicks on/off on the power supply board when power is held in.
Replaced Power Supply G board - same response.
Replaced main BAP - no response at all. Seems worse, maybe bad board.
Replaced main BAP with a 2nd board - back to blinking 3x similar to original.
Checked speaker impedances ok 8ohms each.
Where are JL6002, JL6005 test points?
Ideas for what next to troubleshoot?
Could it be T-Conn or LED board? Seems that the troubleshooting... -
by sickboyThis is a CRT I sold a few months ago and it's came back with this weird issue. It's intermittent, but not a thermal fault, or tap sensitive - just completely random. The right side of the picture completely blanks out (picture is not shifted). The on screen display is unaffected though, so not a fault in the line section. Anyone seen anything like before in a CRT?2 Photos
