    Sony KDL-43W807C

    HI
All wonder if someone can help ?
I have already posted a fault on this TV lines across top of screen !! as this turned out to be a chip in the screen behind the finished trim how this happened is a mystery as there is no singe of any damage on the trim what so ever ?
Now I have ordered replacement screen and waiting for its arrival but while I am waiting for the screen I decided to re-assemble the TV for safety reasons.
But what is happening is I am not getting any display on the screen ! now I have put this back together several times as mentioned in last post I have two of these sets one is KDL-43w807C other is KDL-43w809C But both have the same T-con boards and the same motherboards and P/S boards I have tried all boards and I have even carefully cleaned contacts on all computer ribbons using a fibre glass pen.
But just cannot get the picture up the best I have had is a screen that displays black and white squares changing to red and blue bars and white screen .
Can some one tell me am I missing something here I just cannot get a picture up at all .
I have swapped T-con boards several times now but still no joy being very careful when connecting computer ribbons to make sure they are seated right am I missing something here its now driving me mad.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Out of curiosity where would you obtain a replacement screen that would make the repair cost effective?

        Hi
I have tried pressing TV button several times no joy !!
I have tried changing the ribbon from T-con board to mother board several times now still no success . I am now getting a half white and half black screen with the black half changing from black to white on/off.
I have sound coming through so I know I am on a TV channel.

( This TV is still selling for £600+ the replacement LCD is costing £140 )

That's seem a pretty good price if the set is still current at around £600. Can I ask where you sourced it from?
          Thanks

Do you have access to a scope and then you can check the signals into the tcon and from the tcon to the panel circuit board. Also have you checked that you still have a voltage on either side of the Tcon fuse.

I have found that probing data lines on t-con with voltmeter will give around 1v. Poor mans oscilloscope
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

                Hi Dick
I do not have a scope available as mine is a really old scope.
But I have been trying two separate T-con boards and also the TV was working ok before I changed it to see if that was causing the original fault of lines across the top of the picture as you can see in my last post for this TV .
I have also switched the mother boards still no joy.
The place I have placed order for lcd is http://www.servicetvscreen.com.

                  Hello Ron,
Thanks very much for the web link. It may come in useful at some point.

Swapping boards can often help to pinpoint problems but does at times create new problems which unfortunately it looks like in this case.

I think the best solution is to start from scratch with your original parts and look at the voltages coming from the power supply to see if they are 1) all there and 2) within spec.

                    Hi Dick
I have took some pictures showing from disassembled to fully assembled and what is displayed on screen.
Would you kindly look to see that I am putting all connections in correctly?
I have also took picture of spar t-con board and highlighted what I think is f100.
When the TV is displaying these displays you can hear sound from the channel TV is on.
Am I missing something here am I not connecting right.

It rotates through these pictures while TV is on starting with the black/white then white then the colour bar picture ?

This looks more like the TV is coming on in a test mode and not in tuner mode can any one tell me if they know ìf this is the case ?

And if this is how do I get it to come on in tuner mode any help would be much appreciated.

I have checked and double checked and they are the right way.
AS you can see in the pictures the one from t-con to main can only go one way and the ones from lcd to t-con are clearly marked ?

You could try a soft reset. Press and hold the remote power for 5 seconds, a message should pop up but if your display isn't working correctly this might not show so you might have to count/guess and try a couple of times. Release the power button and the TV should restart.

I have just tried that TV goes off then comes back on with the same changing test cards
I tried it a few times but always comes back with the same test cards.
