Advice on Toshiba 42wp46p plasma tv picture problem please

Hi my name is Dave , thank you for reading my post
i have a toshiba 42in plasma tv which has given very good service over the years.
it has developed a picture problem , after it has been on for some time there is a ghost image of the top half of the picture on the bottom which flickers it can be seen most on a dark image .
i am looking for some advice on how i can fix the problem

the set came with another which did not work and is for parts only so i have everything except the y upper and lower buffer and y sustain boards , i can see that the tv is made mostly if not all by LG. as the boards seem to be common to a wide range of sets

Any advice would be welcome , thank you

Thank you for reading my post i have taken some pictures which i hope you can see ,

there is a clear divide line across the screen , the set has been running for some time before this starts,


p/s i have not taken this set apart yet although i did try and get the other set going , but gave up after it blew two y buffer boards and one lower , it was going to cost to much to continue , i did keep all the other boards

can anyone else suggest what might be worth looking at, as i have said all the boards seem to be made by LG, including the panel

boards inside tv seem to fit lgmz42p and visio p42if thats any help

I would swap control board as a first try. Also, you note that the fault occurs after some time which indicates heating is probably involved. You could try a fan behind the set as a test. When fault appears if you turn set off for a few minutes is the fault still there when you turn it on again. Some detective work required. I get a feeling that as plasma is now passe the guys on here are now on the learning curve for oled uled etc. There certainly is lot more knowledge than mine:on this forum.

Thanks for your reply , i have tried a fan behind but is not easy to get much flow into the back , funny thing is i left the picture on pause whilst the camera charged up ( on a dark part of the image ) when i came down to take the picture it was ok and i had to run the film again until the fault came up again clearly bright sections of the film etc cause things to heat up faster when i get some time i may try swapping the board although the set is a bit of a lump to work on ,

I would definitely say control board. But this set is really old, I would also say it is not worth repairing unless the board is very cheap.

Thanks again for all your time , as i have all the parts except for the buffer boards and the board they plug unto i may well try that ,
i know its old but i like the picture and its got lots off scart inputs
