    Pioneer PDP-5070 issue

    Hello there.
New member, enthusiast. My display just developed an issue that I'm hopeful is addressable via a board(s) replacement. As shown in the attached image, display has a horizontal bar on lower half of screen, with a split image. No blinking LEDs. Based on my rather recent investigation, seems this is likely a lower Scan A assy(buffer board?) fault. Perhaps also Y main drive and Y sub drive?
Any guidance on a fix/ replacement part(s) and also reputable source of such parts (no way ebay) would be greatly appreciated. I'm aware of the trap switch and also the need to allow for V discharge prior to wrenching on stuff...
I'm hoping on a fix vs junking the TV, which up until yesterday had an exceptional picture (calibrated, of course).
    Thank you
    Kindest regards
    JB

    Re: Pioneer PDP-5070 issue

This looks like a scan buffer board failure. However before diagnosing this fault make sure to check the panel itself for cracks. I can see a thin black line on the panel which looks to be unilluminated in the fault area. If the panel were to be cracked in that area, you might see this fault. Sometimes, although it is exceedingly rare on well-designed panels like Pioneer ones, the glass can crack under use, and it can be almost invisible if it is right on an edge.

Example of possible panel crack fault: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e26jLO-kJJQ

Thank you. I went to re-inspect with a good flashlight, and i indeed see a crack (almost like a bb shot/ star pattern). Panel is toast... thank you for your time and insight.
      Cheers

That's really sharp eyes there Tom66 to see the unilluminated line in that photo.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Running out of Ideas, hoping someone smart can provide some for my ONKYO TX-SR353 Receiver
          by CDNBrewer
          Hello Everyone,

I have an Onkyo TX-SR353 Audio/Video Receiver (5.1 ch with HDMI) that I am having a really hard time diagnosing and I'm about to throw this in the junk and go buy a new unit that is on sale until the 7th.

          Symptoms:
          • Intermittent (part of the reason why i'm having a hard time isolating problem), sometimes will work for 10+h at a time without issue
          • Original symptom was wife reported loud banging noise (like someone was banging on the wall with their fists) from the LEFT SURROUND speaker and then the unit shut off.
          • I swapped the Left and Right surround

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
          by rounin
          Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

          🛠 Original Issue
          The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

⚠️ New Problem: One USB-C Port Only Works in One Orientation...

          Pioneer A-205 faint noise/hiss issue
          by GraphicMan
as the title says, i noticed a faint noise/hiss when there is nothing playing that i dont think i have had with this unit before ever, i have not changed its location
what makes it more weird, this noise is gone almost completely if my hand gets within 5cm or less close to it (close to the panel)!!
out of curiosity what does that mean?
          thanks
