    Hyundai PTV421

Came in dead. Unusally power or other item that keep plasma "dead". Drumroll: microcrotroller is bust. No pulses on the EEPROM or any other pins and crystal is working.

The mainboard is 2 layer sh!t and all of the components are on one side, none on the back, and not much traces as well. This thing needed a adapter board to interface with the power supply and the mainboard with bunch of capacitors and few inductors. What the heck. No BGA stuff, small yay. But not much in way of processing (no heatsink the chipsets at all), resulting in horrible youtube quality. Saw that at home depot 2 years ago.

Too bad since this is nice LG panel.

Since it's a plasma you could probably make some $$$ selling it if the repair isn't too hard.

Add some heat-sinks then it could be your 'Hot Rod Hyundai'.

        LOL

We are waiting for customer to say "final judgement" since this is your FYI on PTV421 and that particular part cannot be sourced, have to junk it or give it with regets to customer, yes we have 2 other panels needing power modules. Sigh, this what drives me nuts as this put me in limbo waiting.

Oh yes, since this panel is fed by a LVDS, you can use a different mainboard hacked in as long as it is 1366x768.

even the panasonic plasmas i saw are alike, giving extremely crappy picture with sd sources...

it's fine if mfrs do that in country where hd is well present, but for european market they really should try harder...

as the things are going, i dunno will i be able to watch sd in any sort of quality by the time crts are no more...best thing would be to stash few more crts...
