DVR not booting, stuck on logo screen (Navaio NAV-C08SE)

Good day folks. Not sure whether someone will actually be able to help me, but another man's opinion never hurts. The issue is "simple" got this piece of junk DVR which doesn't boot - it just gets stuck on the logo screen. Mine goes by the brand name "Navaio", although I'm sure it's just generic and other DVRs use this exact same board, especially since I've seen that H.264 splash screen before. I could not find anything on this particular model, hence my low expectations here as well, though perhaps by looking at the board, someone will go "oh, this looks similar to *this* one - try it"....perhaps :| I see a UART connector on the board, but I don't know what to do with it and IF it can be used for this purpose at all. The main issue at the moment is obtaining something that can be written to the thing...anything Cheers.

There appears to be a couple of step down converters on one of the boards, an MP1482DS and the other one I can't read the number but may be worth checking the output voltages of each. There are also some standard 3 pin regulators on the boards that do have voltage test points. Have you checked those.

Have you tried a different PSU?

Is this with no HDD or an HDD connected?

EDIT: Is that a CMOS coin cell holder? If so, is it populated?

No HDD and nothing else attached to the board. I even removed the board from the case. Also, the pictures show the same board, front and back - there's only one.

Many DVRs won't boot with a bad or missing HDD, and some computers wont boot with a missing or dead coin battery. Plug in a FAT formatted HDD and see if it goes.

I made another discovery: between the 1v test point and ground there's a short, so it could be the CPU is shorted and the splash screen loads from the EEPROM.

                    by platinumsteel
Hi guys i have my personal MacBook Pro 2015 820-00165 board that was working fine for more than a year and one day stopped working on my original Magsafe charger. It was turning on with my bench power supply. Opened it up and while diagnosing that somehow i ended up with a shorted smc.The line which was shorted was SMC_PM_G2_EN. I removed the SMC and short was gone. So all I had was another working donor board 820-3435 which i used to program it's SMC to 820-00165 using the SMCTOOL By MuertoGB.Took that SMC and use it on my 820-00165 board .And my board started working again. A2141 Screen replacement. Boots screen freezes on Apple Logo 1/3 status bar unless connected to second monitor.
                    by abajor
                    Having this very weird issue.
The owner of this laptop complained about screen being intermittent when opening and closing, and has been using the laptop on a thunderbolt video connection since the screen failed.

I swapped with a working screen from an A2141 waiting for parts.

The Os exhibits this weird behavior where it boots to to 1/3 the status bar, then it makes the boop sound. It's at the log in but for whatever reason the desktop isn't loaded.

The laptop boots fine into recovery mode. I updated from Monterey to Sonoma and the laptop still has...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
                    by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo
                    by G33RT
Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo, it does not reboot it just stays on the logo.

It does power up when pressing the power button.

I already try the power button while plugin the plug with no result.
Also put the latest firmware autorun-TPM191E_R.001.004.100.000.upg on a MBR/FAT32 USB stick at USB port2 with no result either.

Could this be an PSU or eMMC issue ?

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                    by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
