    Sony KDL-40XBR6 14 blinks

Lots of threads about Sony TV's with the 14 blink code.

Budm posted a training manual in this thread post #39. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...t=25810&page=2

Troubleshooting flowchart indicates 14 blinks is a LCD panel problem though some posts indicate it may be the Tcon.

Pulled out the TCON (BT3 version) and checked all the marked fuses (top and bottom) and they were ok.

In this post, budm indicates that if you pull out the LVDS cable and the TV stays on, the LCD panel is defective. I tried that and the TV does stay on without the error. Plugging it back in, the tv stays on for awhile before the 14 blinks come back. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=45390

So does that mean I can sell the Tcon board for big bucks and scrap the tv???

only because the fuses are good on the tcon, it necessarily doesn't mean the tcon is good as such.

Scrapped the TV but found this ebay listing for repair service for the Tcon board with 14 blinks.

        Sony KD-55X9000F TCON Issue
        by thelankanguy
The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...

        Sony KD-55AG9 TCON?
        by bbrain
        Hi,

I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
        It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

        Thanks in advance!...

        Sony XBR-65X850D 2 Red Blinks
        by Nicktronic
        Hi all,

I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?

Any Sony experts out there that can help??...

Sony KD-65x8500b - bad Tcon or panel?
        by rimwall
Hi, hoping for some views on this one which I've not come across before. The TV generates an image that has 12 noticeable bands across it. The image is still there and accurate, but the colour (or perhaps the brightness) changes gradually across each band which creates a noticeable 'step change' at the edge of each band. Given it's a 4K TV with 2160 rows of pixels, I'm guessing the 12 bands correspond to 12 gate drivers of 180 rows each. If this guess is right, then perhaps:
        a) all the gate drivers are malfunctioning the same way (which seems unlikely), or
        b) the Tcon board is malfunctioning,...

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
        by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...
