Panasonic TC-42PC2 Plasma curb find with 10 blink SOS.

I'm working an a Panasonic TC-42PC2 Plasma curb find. Earlier tests as read here (I believe) pointed to the SS board. Got one off ebay. I installed it and 10 blinks went to 7 blinks.

Did another test found here and the 7 turned into 6 blinks, pointing now to the SN board.

Bought an SN board and installed it. THat was sometime in February. Issue went back to 10 blinks.

Why, I'm not sure, last week I bought a reasonably cheap P board. Installed it other day, still 10 blinks. A board??

Read further on this site and followed the following instructions from another post on a Panasonic 42" 10 blink set.

I copied and edited in my results and some findings in the following text.

    New SS board.

    Q001 w/ red on top = 47.0k
    Q001 w/ black on top = 47.0k
    Q002 w/ red on top = 47.0k
    Q002 w/ black on top = 47.0k
    Q021 w/ red on top = 47.0k
    Q021 w/ black on top = 47.0k
    Q022 w/ red on top = 47.0k
    Q022 w/ black on top = 47.0k

    Old SS board, 2 @ 18.?? ohm and 2 @ 0.5 ohm.

I did following test with new (junk?) SN board.

Try this first, tv off, disconnect SS11,SN2, P35, the 3 white ribbons at the A board. Turn TV on and confirm it turns on and no blinks. This proves the P and A boards are not the cause of 10 blink.

Turn TV off Leave everything removed for 5 mins before reconnection, panel can be destroyed if p35 still has charge, sn2, ss11 will have 200v residual for a while.

Assuming that passed. ***Yes, this passed. Steady red LED when turned on.***

Hook everything back up, leave ss3,ss1 removed and turn on . If still 10 blinks I would check out the SN for shorted transistors or check Sn2 connector for low resistance or short

On this last test, it went back to the 10 blinks. I compared transistors on new SN board and found more shorted transistors (0.5 ohms) on the new board than the original board. I checked those marked off in post #28 of that other thread. With out digging out the magnifying glass, are those all the same? Wondering about taking two boards and attempt half a repair and maybe make one work.

I did put in the old SN board and it went back to 7 blinks and then 6 when I disconnected something for that previous test. Looking like the original board is in better shape than the one the guy in FLA sold me on ebay as used/working condition.

I have stuck about all the $$ I can into this curb find. Any other sugestions would be much appreciated. Also, anyone interested, I have a repairable SS board and likely a good P board I could make one heck of a deal on with someone for helping me get this set up and running again.

    Thank you in advance,
    Dale

Just my opinion. Throw the plasma back out to the curb were it belongs and find an lcd to repair. Anyone who enjoys working on them needs therapy. I have not been able to repair a plasma yet. My latest AND LAST attempt was Samsung. Everything behind humming along nicely one second heartbeat light. Nothing on front. Tried to get test pattern up nothing. Bought another control board and pop their went my ysus board. Bought a ysus board now two bad ysus boards no working TV. These things are money pits. I've repaired couple of dozen lcd now for less money than one plasma. Just my two cents. Your mileage may vary!!
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Nothing wrong with a bit of therapy. I must admit this particular model can be a

problem being the SS can take out the SN and vice versa. And , plenty of people have blown good boards trying to work it all out ,

If the SS was shorted, a quick check of the SN for shorted IGBTs should give some clues then a matter of replacing or rebuilding both . The SS is straigt forward, SN is not.

ModuslinkPTS do boards but not much value in a 42" HD TV these days.

I have a couple of boardsets but we're a world apart.

I might just have to set this TV to the side for a while and save some more pennies two throw at it.

TW , Not too far apart, I have sent an aviation antenna which I build to somewhere southwest of Dubbo (?) and also sold a Trans Am on ebay that went near New South Wales, AU.

To anyone, I will have at least a good power supply and a repairable SS & SN board plus maybe more available if I get this set going. Really wanted this one going so I can retire our working Philips 50" RPTV . That one, years ago I had to change the crt/lens coolant and also the hot side and cold side controllers along with an opto.isolator chips due to cheap stuff Philips used in mfg. I did these myself, so I'm not too afraid to tackle tvs/electronics.

Thanks all for replies and any further assistance.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Sony KDL-40Z4500 LCD with stripes and 9 blinks (possible BGC board or harness problem
                  by huj3r
                  Hi there!

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40Z4500 which shows a colored vertical stripes pattern when turning on, with a central black shadow that slowly dissipates within the first 10 seconds.

Photo of the situation after the black shadow dissipates:

After this behavior the red LED will blink 9 times, then pause for a bit, and blink again 9 times, in a loop.

I checked the manual (available here) and this corresponds to "HFR error", quoting from the manual:

                  > This indicates HFR Communication error. [ HFR Communication...

                  Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                  Panasonic Viera Plasma TH-42PX75U 7 Blinks/8 Blinks/burned P board?
                  by mmischni
                  Greetings friends,

I have a Panasonic TH-42PX75U manufactured in 2007. It has been trouble-free until recently. One evening I turned it on and it then powered back off and gave 7 blinks.

First a question about the blinks. Everyone only speaks of a single number of blinks. I noticed on my TV, it blinks one fewer times for the first group of blinks, then blinks the full number repeatedly. So for my first code in question, the TV switches off, blinks 6, then blinks 7 repeatedly. When I disconnected the SC board, the TV switches off, blinks 7, then blinks 8 repeatedly....
