    LG 50PJ350 Power Supply issues

    Hi guys,

I've got 2 50PJ350 plasma's at the moment both with some sort of power supply fault. The power supply's are part no. EAY60968701 however one is the type with 3 ceramic resistors in the top right, while the other is the model with 2 resistors.

The first of them (3 resistors) has an intermittent problem where sometimes it will turn on fine and other times it will not turn on at all. I've fitted the common repair kit which replaces IC301 and D304 which did not help the issue. I've checked thoroughly for cold solder joints and resoldered all joints on transformers (Had this issue on the same model of TV previously) however all joints appear fine. If it does not start I've been to able to get it to by tapping the board gently with the back of screwdriver making me think that its still a joint somewhere, but any further help narrowing it down would be great.

The second board/TV (2 resistors) does not turn on at all. The power supply simply clicks 3 times, pauses then repeats the clicks and continues on until I disconnect power. Checked for cold solder joints and seems fine also. I've swapped the intermittent board in and it fired right up (still has intermittent issues) so I'm assuming it is in fact a power supply fault. Any help trouble shooting this one would be much appreciated.

Sorry if its a bit confusing please feel free to ask for more details or clarification. I can also add pictures if this would help.
    Any help much appreciated.

Posting pictures of the back of your tv showing the boards with clear pictures may help you more with fixing your problem

There's two chains of high-value resistors, connected in series, which forms part of the start-up circuit, you will see these (smd resistors) towards the lower centre of the psu,(rear),simply resolder all of the resistors in the two chains, which should bring some success..
(I don't have the location numbers currently,as i'm not at home)
          Good luck!

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
            by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Identifying backlight resistors, power supply is a BN44-00852
            by unimatrix93
Dear forum, I would like to ask some help identifying the backlight circuits resistors to limit the ampere to the backlight leds.
The power supply is a BN44-00852 and I want to decrease the backlight to increase the lifetime of the LEDs.
The TV is pretty much always on, used for CCTV cameras.

I suspecting R9838 -> R9841 resistors but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance!

Hi, Can we use SMPS Bench Power Supply for Laptop troubleshooting?
            by shamsudeen
Hi all, I just need to know that, can i use SMPS type power supply to test and short circuit detection on a laptop motherboard?
I saw 95% of repair guys are using only Linear bench power supply. linear bench power supply is pricy, thats why i planned to get one SMPS supply.

i know that in linear power supply the noise will be very low comparing to SMPS supply....

            Russound CA4 Power Supply Repair
            by CMCM
            Hello Everybody,

Trying to repair a power supply from a Russound CA4 Multizone Controller (picture attached)

Russound no longer supports it but were kind enough to provide a schematic of the power supply (pdf attached).

The outputs marked 12v and 20v are all measuring only 1v.

The board is clicking, which I think means it is in something called hiccup mode when the flyback transformers switches because of an internal problem or something else on the board Overloading it.

The capacitors physically look clean (no bludgesor leaks) and...
