    VHS video player - sound OK, but white noise instead of picture

    These days I've tried to play 3-4 VHS tapes, because I want to rip them on my PC and then burn them on a DVD disks.
    I've borrowed a VHS player Sony SLV-X7 and tried to play the tapes.
    The sound is OK, but most of the time instead of image I am seeing a white noise and some pale(ghosting images) images. Sometimes there is a little better picture and even a colors appear, but briefly.
    I am asking for help to resolve the issue. I've tried 4 tapes. These tapes played just fine some time ago. Surely, the problem is in the reading head of the VHS player or something like this. But I am asking for your opinions.
    It's strange, because sound plays just fine, there is just not good picture.

    Useful conversions. I don't "speak" imperial. Please use metric, if you want to address me.
    1km=1000m=100000cm, 1inch=2.54cm, 1mile=1609.344meters, 1ft=30.48cm 1gal(US)=3.785liters, 1lb=453grams, 1oz=28.34grams

        +1
        Google "VHS Drum". Also search Youtube on how best to clean it.
        Willing to help but I'm no expert.
