I turned on my TV the other day and the screen had these lines that were shifting up and down. I re-seated the cables from the main board to the panel and there was no change. Should I buy a new main board or is it the panel?

Re: Vizio E420-A0 Horizontal Lines
When I disconnect the top cable from the board the screen is half black and half white and I can see some lines in the black half but not the white half. With the bottom cable disconnected same half black half white but I see no lines in the black halfComment

You will have to experiment with how many tracks you block with the tape and which tracks. It takes time but it often does work.Proud owner of dozens of broken TV's and many, many, many boards.

Hi there, any chance you could share which tracks you covered? I'm afraid I just bought the same model and am having this issue. Thank you.Comment

You might have a long wait, that post 3 years ago was his last, you just need to experiment with how many you cover, some only need to cover a few on one end.Last edited by nomoresonys; 04-04-2020, 11:03 AM.Comment

by GjacksonHi, I have a sort of old Grundig LCD Led TV that starts to display black horizontal lines after some use. After it's been turned off for a while and cold it does not display any artifacts however after some use it starts to display some faint horizontal lines at the top of the screen and a bunch in the middle of the screen. The longer the tv is on the worse they get until they become very clearly visible. I suspect that heat has something to do with this as when the lines start to appear i notice that the tv's metal case has gotten warm. Could the T-CON start to malfunction when it starts to get...01-31-2022, 02:25 PM

by dvu0627I have a Sony Smart TV XBR65X900H that started to have horizontal lines on the right side of the screen (see attached picture). When I played video on Youtube green horizontal line at regular intervals(1/4") across the screen.
I replaced the T-Con board but the lines are still there.
I believe this issue is from the Main Board. Before I replace the Main board, I wanted to seek advise if this is the problem from the Main board or something else?
Thank you for the help.... -
by rapid911Hi guys, I have a Vizio M58Q7-J01 and now there are some colored horizontal lines on the screen. Could someone tell me if it's probably a panel issue or something related to other parts and can be fixed? Thank you in advance....

by jason123Hi there,
I think it might be a bad panel but I thought I'd ask before I chuck it..
thin colored horizontal lines bottom and thin section on top. As it runs warmer, you can see some ghosting or double image. Right hand side of the screen darker then brighter (backlight is always on, so it's the actual LCD that gets darker and brighter)
Replaced the Main board, because I had one handy, no change.
Is it worth replacing TCON? disconnecting ribbon on one side of the panel, the lines appear still on the other side (unplugged side.)
