Re: VIVO PTV43HD no PS-ON signal

Took to the mainboard with acetone. It shifted any remaining glue, but didn't bring it back to life. Under a high mag lens it appears there may be some VERY small SMT components around the red socket which sends the POWER ON signal missing. Hard to tell if the pads are blank or if some components have 'dissolved' under the glue. I also confirmed the power switch was pulling the voltage down at the mainboard socket just as it should (~3V down to 0V when clicked) so that wasn't the issue. Looks like I'm purchasing that mainboard for A$80 plus post just to say I saved another from the dumpster.

Problem identified, solved, but I am so pi**ed off too.
Turns out the problem was a poor connection at the PS-ON socket and plug on the mainboard (red socket in images I provided). It was covered in that horrible glue and appears to have dissolved the plastic connector and damaged the connection. I'm kicking myself that I didn't explore that further last week. Let me explain the turn of events.
Ordered a 2nd-hand mainboard at an extraordinary cost of over A$100, but was only one available anywhere. Dropped it in and I still couldn't get the TV out of standby. Wiggled that connector and suddenly we had power on. As I explored further the PS-ON wire just came away from the connector. Got that sorted, power on, but no menus coming up on screen. Could it still be a defective replacement mainboard? Was my original mainbaord defective at all?
Swapped over and yes, TV came fully to life. Now I'll have the battle of getting my money back for the mainboard. Arghhhh....

So just watch out everyone for this brown glue gunk. Corrosive to everything it comes in contact with!

Thanks for follow up. Glad everything working and one less in the dump.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

          by AstutePauciloquent
Hi everyone, over the past few months i have taken a deep dive into motherboard diagnostics and I love the challenge. Currently im trying to learn all about the signals that travel around the motherboard, such as frequencies, enable signals High and Low logic states etc. And i have been learning to read and using the Schematics for this board that i requested here on Badcaps forum, from a few months ago, this is such a great place for these.

I’ve been working on a GA-970A-DS3 (rev. 1.0) that does not post. This motherboard has been my main learning board. I would like share...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel
          by howardc64
          Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

          Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Dell Latitude 7420 - Touchscreen not working since Mainboard replacement
          by Mirenia
          Hi everyone,

I've got a little "problem child": my Dell Latitude 7420 2-in-1, which had a faulty mainboard.
I replaced it, but ever since, the touchscreen no longer works — and honestly, I’m running out of ideas…

In Windows Device Manager, I just see an I2C HID Device with error code 10. Sporadically, the touchscreen is recognized correctly for just a few seconds, but I haven’t been able to determine under which circumstances this happens.

The touchscreen also doesn’t work in UEFI/BIOS, although it’s enabled...

MASTER TL240 and new mainboard LW36BKC01
          by orcic
          Hello,
I have an old MASTER TL-240 LED TV. Since it stopped working and it had a DVB-T receiver that is being dismissed in Italy, I've decided to replace the mainboard with a DVB-T2 one.
The original problem was that when switching on the TV, the power LED was transitioning from red to steady blue, without showing video or audio.
After checking some voltages on the power supply board (HKL-240101-B Rev. 1.4, HKL from now on) someone suggested me to replace the mainboard.
Now I have some doubts about how to connect the new mainboard to the old power supply.
          First of...
