    sanyo dp42740 plasma wont power on

    hello i have a sanyo plasma dp42740 i got for 20 doolars. the problem is it will not power up. the power light does not come on what so ever, not even for a second. the power supply clicks several times when you plug it in, the power button does nothing. the screen does light up with a glow to it very flaintly. there is a small logic board that when i unplug the power cable to it the glows goes away. this is the only cable that kill the glow on the screen. no power light on front, could be burnt out, not sure. can the psu be stuck on that only this logic board gets power? it has an analog and a digital board that feed info to this logic board. if anyone could help me figure this out would be get.. don't know plasma that good, can replace boards all day long on lcd's

    If the screen glows the set IS powering on. Try running the test patterns by jumpering the logic board (look it up!) and see if the set comes alive.

      this set doesn't try to start or turn off all it does is the screen glow when pluged in

        Av board is gone then, try test patterns

          can,t seem to get set to do any kind of test pattern. downloaded the repair manual but it doesnt even show tnpa 3505 board at all. this is the board that connects to the y board and is causing the glow on the screen. i unhook the power to it and no screen glow, but still have nothing else.. led on front never lights up at all still thinking it could be psu (b159-001) causing the problem

                Can you post pictures of the back of the set showing the circuit boards and interconnection of the boards (in focus).

                Check the voltages are as shown in the manual attached.

                To run the test pattern, do a search on the forum.

                There's a lot of information on this forum regarding this model if you search DP42740.

                  im not sure you can run test patterns on these sets this is a quote by tom66

                  Hmm, unfortunately, Panasonic D boards do not have a simple test pattern jumper. It does sound like a main board fault, given the lack of power LED.

                    Hopefully the manual should be a good starting point to fault finding. Check what voltages are missing or if the Protect is kicking in. As I said above there is a lot of info on this set on the Forum which should help.

                      Lots of posts on these sets (do a search) this set has two mains a analog + digital main,bad digital board would be my bet
