intermittent starting DVD player in here?

i dont know if this is the place to ask..
or even if i can ask about DVD players here...

i have a Sony DVD/CD/CD-R/CD-RW/ Compact disc recorder

    Model: RCD-W7V
    Serial number: 8101951

    heres the sony page...
    it really dont show much..
    http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/mod....pl?mdl=rcdw7v

    anyways...heres the problem...
sometimes it will start and run...
    sometimes it won't
sometimes if i unplug it...and leave it off for a while...
and re-plug it turns on and works...
if i leave it pluged in and ON...it works..forever..
but if i turn it off..sometimes it won't turn back on..
unplug it...replug it....it might come on...
    un plug replug..unplug re-plug...

i checked the plug wire it seesm ok...
    i checked it with a OhM meter...for con-ta-new-a-tee (god i spell bad)
it seems ok..like its not the plug..

i took basic electronics in highschool like ages ago...
things have changed alot since then..

    heres why i asking here..
the way things start up now days...is different then they did 20 years ago..
like not just on and off switchs..

they have start up circuts now..which im not to hip on..
i wonder if i could post some pictures of the insides of this DVD player/Cd recorder..
someone could say...theres a 89% chance that its this lil start up thing..
ha ha OMG (lil start up thing)..
that might be bad...becasue it needs to tell this other circut..it has the proper voltage before it will start up...
OMG..all you eltronics people dont kick me..lol..

i dont know what its called...but i know it has something to do with making it start..that might be the problem..becasue sometimes it will start..
and other times it wont..unless i unplug it...and re plug it..untill it lites up..
    ..anways..
if anyone wants to say anything ...
just tell me what area of the thing you want to see and i'll get a pic for ya..

where you might say..try replacing that lil blue box thing...that relay switch thing is probally bad...
or it might be a bad cap in this section..
or where you might say try replacing that lil red thing..lol..

    lol..i'll shut up now..lol...

What's the manufacture date on that drive?

If 1 or 2 years old and lot of use, just dump it and get another.

These drives can be had for 30-50 like LG.

Whoops, this is not a disc drive for computer, well, take it to good electronic shop and have them look at it.

          Hehehe.

What you need is ESR capacitor meter and take the power supply out, check these electroylitc caps. And check soldering quality as well.

When it is acting up, dont keep plugging to get it going, Instead with top open, direct heated air (hair dryer etc) at capacitors on the power supply or something else for a minute or two, and attempt to start player up. If it comes up normally, it's the problem.

Electrolytic capacitors when marginal is 'temporily working' when warmed.

            Victrola multi-player - No audio
            by kokopelli75
            Hello!

My mother has a Victrola Navigator player that stopped functioning after a storm. I checked out what I could - all player functions appear to work, but there is no audio output in either the speakers or the headphone jack. I suspect (with my limited knowledge) that the amplifier part of the device is toast. Photo of the suspected board is attached. There's separate boards for front display, record player, etc. This board has a section for power regulation and a section for amp. There's a UTC7266 7+7W dual bridge amplifier IC and a CSC2314F sound processor IC on the board. Visually,...

Bose Wave I AWRCC1 - intermittent to no sound output - loud popping & crackle sounds
            by proxneo
            Dear reader

I have been asked to check out a faulty Bose Wave system belonging to a relative. The faulty unit produces loud intermittent pops and crackles. Sometimes there is speaker audio output (FM/AM, CD etc.), most of the time there isn't. This behaviour degraded over time fairly quickly, to the current situation where no sound is put out at all. Gently messing and wiggling wires, connectors or heatsink has no effect in force-replicating the problem. I have little experience in audio repair when it comes to (main)board electronic component faults. Bose repair WAS about 140$ (most...

LG BH6420P Home theather blue ray player repair
            by unimatrix93
Hello everyone, I'm trying to troubleshoot this LG hometheater player.

The customer forced her USB drive reversed into it's USB socket and since then the player won't work properly, only shows "Please wait" error forever on it's display.

Now I started diagnosing the USB socket and the mainboard where it's connected.

I found 20ohm resistance to ground on the 5V line of the USB.

5V is missing and I found the buck converter of the USB line, TPS65252 IC.
After measuring the pins I realized that both VIN and 3V3 is correctly present...

Panasonic AG-1000B VHS player with bad picture quality
            by FZG
            Hello!

I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.

Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.

I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?

            Also, what mechanism is this?

            Any feedback is appreciated!...
