    Cheap china monitor issue

Earlier this summer I bought two 900Mhz wireless cameras for $25 used.
The kit also came with two monitors that had a dual channel receiver installed in each of them (Channel A and Channel B)
Anyways, while one monitor works, the other does not. I push the power button and nothing happens (I don't even hear the flyback energize), I checked the PSU, the cord, the power connector and even the fuse and they are all okay. I can't seem to figure out why it will not turn on. The power button is a pushbutton on/off switch so it is either on or off.

    Well, what could it be?

Pentium, you gonna have the MUST HAVES checks. With meter on the voltages and other things like resistance checks on other components and eye and nose to smell for any stink that comes with overheating/shorting.

    Be careful.

Check the flyback carefully for any melted plastic. I would ring it to make sure it's ok.

Check the HOT for shorts although they usually like to take fuses out with them.

Check the line voltage regulator too.

If you want to measure for voltage push in the power switch and plug it in and measure across the line filter cap. This is the output from the line voltage regulator and it should be the same voltage that the regulator is rated to output.

Doh . Sorry about that the line filter cap is BEFORE the line regulator so disregard that statement.

The voltage on the cap is the INPUT to the line regulator.

Very tired now and the old noggins slipping up on me .

If voltage is at the cap check the collector of the HOT for regulated voltage.

As always when working with line voltage be careful.

Just trace your way through the high voltage power supply and I'm sure you'll find your culprit.

I checked the regulator and it seems fine.
I checked the flyback and even the caps are not holding a residual charge so either there is a short or they have not seen power in a while.

that means you don't have the power to the horizontal section.

Short or dud regulator can do this. What kind of this voltage supply to the horizontal section is designed?

I'm not talking about power supply if it's not on board the chassis.

              Heck do I know.
Like some people I tend to not even open my CRT monitors.

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54. displays on the external monitor and works fine, the issue is NO display on the internal screen
                by DqMagetz
                Good day!
I have a customer's laptop — Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54 (EH5VF - LA-H501P). It has a display on the external monitor and it's working fine, but the issue is NO display on the internal screen. I already replaced the eDP cable and checked the LCD connector pins.

                Here are the voltage readings:
                • Input – 19V (stable)
                • +LCDVDD – 3.3V briefly, then drops to 0V
                • EDP_HPD – 3.3V briefly, then drops to 0V
                • PCH_BKL_PWM – 2.2–5V briefly, then drops to 0V
                • EC BKOFF# – 1.8V briefly, then drops to 0V
                • PANEL_OD_EN – 0.3V

Is it possible that the EC chip is corrupted or damag...

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
                by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
                by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.
                by Rick_1234
                Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Next i pressed only power button, rebooted again and its fine again. Happened once and i cant reproduce.
