Im trying to fix a 14 inch CRT tv with few flickering white horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen. These flickering lines gradually disappear when using the tv for maybe 5 minutes or more. They only appear when I turn on the tv after being unused for maybe 30 minutes or more.
I read somewhere that it's related to the vertical ic section especially the capacitor. Upon checking I suspected a capacitor and a resistor. I started with the capacitor by desoldering one leg and lifted it. I wasn't really sure but I tried turning on the tv after a 30 minutes rest and was surprised to see no white lines. I tried it again by leaving the tv off for more than an hour. I turn on the tv and still no white lines. Yehey!
One thing that bothers me though is about the resistor I tested with a multimeter which reads about 9 ohm and has a 5 color band as brown, black, black, brown, gold. I'm not really sure if it's actually a 10 ohm or 1k ohm resistor. Do I need to desolder and remove the resistor from the board to actually check its actual value?
I hope somebody can help me identify this resistor. Please see attached picture.
