    Sharp LC TV Dead

    Hello,

I posted a question regarding this TV several weeks ago and realized I didn't include enough info. Here is a description of the problem with photos.

    Model number is LC-70TQ15U.

    * The set has no picture, sound or anything.
    * The standby light is on steady.
    * There are no visible problems with any components.
    * When the power button is pushed, a tiny green LED lights up on the main
board but then goes out after 3-5 minutes.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1483049055

Here are voltages I found on the power supply:

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I posted what you need to do... there are lots of threads in this forum dealing with fixing and or saving the sharp 70 in sets in general. Most deal with tab driver issues but some have other issues... all covered by recent threads.

You might want to label / cross reference the voltages that you posted with the actual so that people don't have to figure out your drawing.

      Thanks for the reply Budwich,

I did go to the Sharp 70 threads and spent hours. None were able to help. Another member said to add photos, so I did. Thought I would give a new thread a shot. My drawings have a photo of the actual plugs included.

        Re: Sharp LC TV Dead

hmmmm... did you actually follow any of the "advice"... disconnecting tcon, disconnecting "corner cables"... what were the results? Your "none were able to help" has very little information as to what you actually did beside reading... I hope you were looking for "if you got this, change this, replace that".... it ain't going to happen.

Further, if you look at the "stickies" at the start of the forum, you may get some help if people can readily know what tv you are referring.... so you aren't even following the "basics" for the forum. I don't mean to be the "forum police" but I know the guys here are good and IF you do some stuff and provide good information, you will likely get your set fixed one way or the other.

Anyways, you have provide some info but you need to do more. Let us know what happens with the suggestions.

          Re: Sharp LC TV Dead

Ok went looking some more. Can't find a post with my exact symptoms that helped.
This is what I have done:

I have a steady standby light.
          No picture
          No sound
When I hit the power button nothing happens and standby light remains on.
I have 120 VAC to the power supply.
          The fuse is good.
There are no bad caps or any other components that display damage.
I have power coming out of the power supply but I don't know if they are proper voltage. (listed in first post).
A small green LED lights up on the main board when power button is pushed.
When powered on there are no back lights
          Flashlight test showed no images

Not sure what to do next. Thanks for any help.

              Re: Sharp LC TV Dead

After removing the two left ribbons from the TCON I now have half a screen and all back lights are looking good. I reversed the process and nothing. blank screen dead tv.

Any advice is very much appreciated. Thank you.

                :-)
isn't that interesting... guess those other threads had some useful information after all.

It is more than likely that you have a panel issue (side tab drivers are bad). :-(
The set can be potentially saved... the drivers CAN NOT be fixed, they can only be removed... BUT its a "one time event"... ie once they are removed, they can not be put back.

As suggested, read or re-read the various threads on sharp 70 where people have done the "save". You basically need to connect back the tcon. Next, you need to look in the lower corner of the panel on each side. There is a small white ribbon cable interconnecting the side edge boards of the panel to bottom edge boards of the panel.

Just like your "tcon test", you need to disconnect one of the corner cables. What happens with the display. Repeat the "test" for the other side. These tests will confirm which side is bad. You can go from there.

                  Re: Sharp LC TV Dead

                  Yes they did.

I replaced TCON ribbons and removed the ribbon on the right side in the lower corner and the TV wouldn't turn.

I then replaced it and removed the left side (facing from the rear) and tv turned on with back lights. The photos are the result this. I will check for more useful threads later today.

                  Thanks again for the help.

I removed the Right side driver and found this.

It would certainly appear that you have found your issue ... :-)
                      I knew you would ... with a little help ... :-)

Basically as most have found, IF you carefully remove the tabs drivers along that side (5 I think) by pulling them away from the panel (almost like tape coming off a piece of paper), your TV will be almost as good as new.

Thankyou all contributors to this forum especially Budwich. This TV works and it didn't cost a penny.

My 12y old daughters tv (that she got after her grandpa, has sentimental value to her) was just dead without stby light a couple of weeks ago.

Iยดve repaired a couple of computer monitors, classic blown capacitor replacements, a 55" Sammy led with t-connboard replacement and a 42" Panasonic edge led where I replaced the led-strip.

Not a master with the multimeter, which is cheap and 10-15year old btw...

                          So please make it basic...

                          To the issue at hand.

As stated, the tv is totally dead with no standby light....

plugged in after being off for quite some time. No OPC lights. Tried flashlight test for backlight check, nada.
Pulled the PS and checked all diodes including the 5w(?) D7908 that was the issue last time. All diodes check OK in circuit with DVM diode test.
No caps look unhappy. It is 17 years old. Was gonna fix and give to my brother.
But is there anything else to try or is it likely met its match.?...

Hello and greetings from the United Kingdom, I'm looking for some help in repairing my grand daughters 'dead' Sharp LC-40FG2241KF smart tv. I have replaced the following damaged parts on the main PCB (TP.MS6486.PB711) :- fuse FB1, switch mode chip UB101, MOSFET QB101,capacitor CB116, resistor RB106, RB148 and a track from UB101 pin 6 to QB102.

Unfortunately resistors RB105 and RB108 are also open circuit and because of their size (0201) I don't know their value. Could some kind soul please tell me or point me toward a schematic with a parts list, a very big ask but for this I would...

                          Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

after change them, ps5 dead too : 1 beep, no blue light. after inspection 1.8v power was shorted, and because of dead panasonic chip. after remove it : no short anymore
                          so i changed it
now i have got 5v stby,, 3.3v stby, 3.3v power, 1.8v power and no short on them
but the ps5 is dead again : 1 beep, near 10 seconds with power lines and then off, no blue light ...

i don't see any projection of liquid metal on pcb.
                          ...
