Re: Vizio M3D651SV will not power on

The eeprom is usually a small 8 pin ic but i cant find any info on the eeprom being as shopjimmy dont list them it may not be a part that usually goes wrong on this model but the older vizio did suffer from eeprom issues.

After looking at pics of some EEPROMS I think what I listed as the 1st and 4th LODs on my post about LODs vdc readings could possibly pass as an EEPROM instead of LODs. I had to get a good camera to take picture a good picture of those tiny things.

Attached is a picture of each.

The 1st pic is located near the main connector from the power supply board.

The 2nd pic is located near the 2nd connector from the power supply board. I can get these 8 Pins to read VDCs when I jump the main connector 5vsb to PS_ON.

No matter what I can't get the 8 pins in the 1st picture to get VDCs.

Are either of these the EEPROM? Are they both EEPROMs?

Im honestly not sure myself the problem is even if we find which one it is it may not be the problem but the older vizios did suffer corrupt eeproms your set is quite new so they may of fixed that issue by now mainboard faults are hard to repair even the best engineers some times have to replace with a new/used one the problem is finding one.

This is a smart TV, it have a flash memory not a EEPROM

I aways make this mistake im so used to working on older tvs with eeproms/spi flash so ecking767 do you think the flash memory could cause the issues hes having? can it be reloaded?

Re: Vizio M3D651SV will not power on

So the 2 pics in my last post are LDOs? Were the vdc readings ok for the ones I posted vdcs for?

I can not find much information regarding a flash memory or flash chip for this tv. Is there any other testing I could do to pin point you get me closer to narrowing down the issue?

Re: Vizio M3D651SV will not power on

I was doing a close up of the flash memory to see if I could see some numbers printed on the flash memory unfortunately I could not.

However upon looking closer is it just me or do y'all notice the smiley face to the left of the flash drive. I have circled it on the attached pic. I feel that this main board is laughing at me. I swear that smile is intentional on this board.

How about those 2 points on the eyes is there some check I could do on those that would tell me if the flash memory was the issue?

Re: Vizio M3D651SV will not power on

After reading some other posts I was able to get the backlights to come on. They can be forced on by disconnecting the red cable between the T-con board and LED Driver board and then using a jumper between the 5vsb and PSON pin. At least I know the backlights definitely work.

I will keep an eye out for a main board.

Have you tried freezing the IC chip in question and or the main BGA chip and then turning the set on?
