using fdg4536 for through hole subs.

Is it possible to use the FGD4536's soldered to a makeshift heatsink(brand new shinny penny) for a through hole subistitute?
I have played around with some blown up components, and soldered them to the pennys, and they stick to them very well.
With all the China FAKES out there, I just had the idea. I have not tried it in a good board yet. Has anybody?

Aluminum SMD caps vs thru hole caps (reliability)

The PCB motor for 1987 Technics SLP-120 CD player has slow spin-up issues. Similar to what another tech in the below video reported.

I replaced the three bi-polar 47uF electros but that made no difference. The orig three bi-polar 47uF electros tested okay on my ESR M-tester.
I have not tested/replaced those alum. SMD electro PCB caps.
Are Al smd caps are more prone to failure (or degradation) than regular thru-hole electros?
All the thru hole electros I removed / replaced on this CDP (and most...

How to correctly desolder through hole IC?
    by LearningToRepair
    Hi!

I tried to desolder through I had IC that I wanted to replace but failed. And now I came here to learn what's the correct way for doing this. I tried to use soldering wick but the capillary force kept solder in the hole. With soldering wick I only managed to remove the part of solder that was outside the hole. But the solder that was inside the hole never got out. And of course when I moved on to next pin the solder in previous hole hardened again so no matter how many times I did all the pins there was still solder in holes.

Question 1: what would have been correct...

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
    by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

cap leg broke off from cap and stuck in through-hole :(
    by ChaosLegionnaire
i was trying to desolder ost junk caps at the cpu vrm out area from an asus p4c800-e deluxe board. the problem is that a couple of the ost junk caps came out but without their legs. the legs were stuck in the through-hole of the board. i managed to pull some of them out with pliers on one hand and soldering iron on the other hand but now only one is left.

this one is too short to grip with pliers. i tried pushing a sewing needle through one side and soldering iron on the other but the leg is just stuck fast inside the through-hole and wont bulge. if i use too much force, the sewing...
