samsung UN55ES6500 left side screen issues

(moving this to its own thread)

got the tv in 2013, working great to now. wife was using it during the day ( i was not home) turned off to pickup kiddo at school came back says she thinks i made a noise and then the issue happend

problem is on only the left side of the screen. right side is normal. in fact if you cut the tv in to vertical 1/4th's the left most has a normal lighting but is interlaced horizontally with black lines and come dim color and animation ghosts in this area the left middle no ghosting but is very dim, right mid and right most both look norm. back light seems to be good across the tv.

after reading on here a bit i tested disconnecting the t con board and powering up screen looks good totally black back lights are all on no images persist on the screen. reconnect the t-con and back to my problem state.

i have experience with repairing several electronics but mostly just component boards not so much with testing caps and power bars and such. mostly have worked with pc's and game consoles first time getting inside a tv like this

looking for someone else who might have some since of what could be the root of this.

thanks for any help. can post pictures if helpful.

Mine has the same issue. Did you ever figure out if it was the tcon or panel.

I am inclined to agree but was hoping that maybe someone found the tcon to be the problem.

Since removing one side of T-CON ribbon causes the whole screen to show dark it says that your panel/screen is definitely defective.

So by chance does anyone think removing the tabs from one side might fix it? If so would it be the right side that is bad?

Based on what I have found I want to try. What is the harm. Anyway I presume that I should remove the tabs from the left side but want to make sure first. Can anyone confirm this.

Is there a small print board on the panel where the tcon tabs go into? If so might be worth while to measure for a shorted cap on that?

first just remove the cap and see if short is gone on the board, then turn on tv and try it?

Im liking your effort here, maybe remove ones near it and find their value ? Quite low voltage Id say as well.

Pulled the capacitor and the short was still there and promptly lost the capacitor. Problem changed, now I only have lines in video on about 1/4 of the side and video is tripled.

                                      Hello everyone,

This is my first post after browsing this wonderful treasure trove of knowledge for many, many evenings. I've decided to learn how to fix these things, properly.

My patient is an A2338 Macbook Pro M1 (late 2020).

It had some corrosion around JT710 and JT700 caused by liquid spill, as well as against the protective barrier around the USB-C chips UF000 and UF100. So I took the main board out and cleaned it with a toothbrush and alcohol, then with alcohol in an ultrasonic cleaner. Cleaned the touchbar flex connectors as well. The board looks...

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

                                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                                      Hi,
I'm having trouble with above mentioned TV. Bought it defect.
Picture was heavily compressed around the horizontal axis. Fiddeled and tried different things (mask clock lines, swap T-Con). But no difference.
Then I identified a heating capacitor on the left hand Signal-PCB (?) below the display. Replaced it by hand soldering. Checked for shorts afterwards. But now the screen stays black.

I can see backlight, but screen stays black.
                                      What I've tried:
                                      - Disconnect right side cable from T-Con -> same (backlight but no pic)
                                      - Disconnect left side...

So here we go with another screen short TCL. For this exercise left and right will be reference looking at the screen.

The person I got this TV from said the color was bad in a vertical fashion about 1/4 of the way over the left side of the screen. Shortly after the symptoms below started.

Power Supply, main and T-CON board are working.

Symptoms: The TV has backlights but no picture with both FFC's attached to the T-CON and does not respond to the remote or buttons, and the TV appears to continuously re-boot.

                                      Unhook FFC from left side...
