Panasonic Plasma TC-P65ST60 - Half screen black

    Hey Everyone:

I am posting to inquire about how I might fix a problem with my Panasonic Plasma TV. The other day, the right half of the screen went black. At first it started with colored lines and now it has fully gone black. It is almost like half the screen it off.

Remove works and there is sound coming out of the TV. I was not able to get into any service menus as I read that if I press -volume and menu 3 times, it would pop up.

I have taken off the back and none of the connectors are loose that I can find.

Attached is a picture of what happened. I am willing to buy a new board if necessary from ebay or something. I have had the TV since 2013.

Thanks for any help you people can provide.

    -Colin

You need to press the volume down button on the TV and then press 0 0 0 OR info 3 times. ( So either zero or info button ).

This looks like bad mainboard , sending no signal to the lower C boards.

Ps , there is not much you can do in the service menu to fix this problem. This is hardware related. Either bad panel OR bad mainboard. My guess is the mainboard because the whole screen got black but still shows colours.

What is the main board usually called. I have seen that there are SC Board and SS board. Is the main board just called "Control Board"?

        Thanks!

Any idea where one whould buy a board like that? I looked on ebay. They just have the other boards.

I live in Canada, but willing to buy from anywhere.

I looked on eBay but there are none available. Here is a place in Indiana , USA that I've used before that will repair it.

I would suspect C1 or C2 boards or one of the cof for the panel. if one of the cof ic's is shorted sometimes you can tell by looking at it with a magnifier, also it will run hot compaired to the others, one bad chip could cause the others after it not to function giving half black screen.

Can't we bring up test patterns on this one? That should tell if it's A board or c boards.

Whats the exact part number on your mainboard? Your mainboard is the board with all the HDMI Connectors. Its located on your right hand side.

You need to find out the part number --> TNPH1045UA #TXN/A1UJUUS ?

unfortunately for the O P you hit it.
might try reseating the ribbons but 99% bad panel.

15th generation plasma model guide says that it's the lower C boards that have failed and not panel , especially because only 1 side is affected. ( Cut in half ).

The C boards are the small boards on bottom side of the tv. Probably easy to find.

you should be able to bring up test patterns, do vertical and horizontal flips. I'm thinking if you do a horizontal flip and the right side was visible on the left I'd be inclined to think panel or C board/s for that area.

This is probably a panel fault. If the failed area ribbon can be detached from the C board and the picture comes back on the rest of the panel it is probably a panel failure. (Be careful with the ribbon and make sure to reattach the heatsink if you do this.)

                              Thanks everyone!

I will probably try and buy the C boards. Does each C board correspond to a portion of the screen?

What I mean is that if it is the right side, would it be the C board behind that side that I should try replacing first?

                              Thanks.

Yes you need to replace that part and see what happens. Take Toms advice , its not easy to replace.

Did you try the test patterns as TW2005 suggested? You can find them in the service menu.

So I did the service tests and did a flip from right side to left and that worked.

I could see what was supposed to be on the right side of my TV on the left.

So it looks like it may be the C1 board?

I think if you're going to roll the dice and try c boards I'd get the c2 as well. It looks like more than 1/3 of the screen and maybe the fault is on the c2 where that red area is, and not passing the data on to the c1.

I hope it is those but being a pessimist I won't be surprised if it's panel, c boards are generally cheap as they're a rare thing to replace.

could get a complete set if you wished. S60 ST60 use the same

My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.

This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...

good night! I have this screen that looks half black and half white. the tcon gives a low vgh value (5-6v). the rest seem fine. I first removed the flex from one half of the panel and then the other. Removing the left, vgh increases it to 25-26v. I think the problem is in that area, but there are not many elements on the integrated controller board. there are no shorted capacitors. could they be a cof? Some help?

By the way, now the entire screen is black. Maybe some flex was not connected correctly... I have exchanged the flex and there are no variations, I don't think they are the...

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

                                      Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                                      Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...
