Lcd TV flickering. Any ideas ?

I used this form about a week or two ago to repair in olevia 65 inch TV and it's been great but today after work I turned it on and the top of the screen was slightly flickering and stopped in like a minute or two. Is this somthing to worry about ? Is it the fluorescent tubes ? I did put a main board in witch was not the problem then a t-com board witch was not the problem it was two of the transformer boards. Now I did have a problem with the screen after I change the T COM board it was all different colors I guess I didn't have a ribbon cable in all the way but after sum playing I got that fixed. I did check the power output of both power supplies and the power was all where it should be and within specs. The TV through all of its life has had a very expensive monster power surge protector on it. And no caps looked to be bad even in the slightest. Please let me know what you think also the tv is 8 years old I don't know if that makes a difference.

Model number please ? Pictures of the boards in the set ? Is the backlight flickering or the Lcd if the backlight is it will be visable through the back of the set ?

If the model is 265T or similar I remember these do have issues with the inverter transformers failing causing backlight issues.

Yes 265fhd when One of the Transformers let go of the TV would go straight to black after two seconds. I believe I have fixed that problem because we have been watching the TV for over a week and we have not had a problem just noticed the top of the screen flickering a little bit today. Goes away within a minute. Is it a sign of a dad tube inside the TV or do I still possibly have another transformer problem ? How long does the tubes usually last and when they die they just completely shut off.

This seems to be a totally different problem before it would just shut down.

Well we need to know if its the backlight or Lcd first.

When the Tv is on can you see the backlight through the back chassis ? Helps if your in a dark room as well. If not then try switching the Tv to a full black screen which as its Lcd will be illuminated blue by the backlight, switch the lights off in the room and see if the flickering area is going totally black or staying backlit but the flickering is on the Lcd.

It was not like a fluorescent light trying to come on I would consider that a on off type flicker this was not a on off flicker

Don't worry about it. Sometimes TV's and monitors will flicker a little bit in a corner and disappear after a few seconds. That is acceptable on CCFL's. Don't forget, CCFLs age and they probably have quite a few hours on them too. I have a monitor that flickers a bit on the bottom corner when turned on for 3 seconds. So far The monitor is 9 years old and never missed a beat.

That Olevia is getting up in age too. I don't think it owes you much anymore. Keep her running until she quits.

I talked with my aunt that on the TV before me and according to her the TV may have been on for 4 to 5 hours a day even if you say the TV was on for seven hours today at eight years that's only 20,000 hours. the TV from what I read should last around 60 or 70,000 hours is that correct

CCFL is rated at 50K hour, you can see that in the LCD panel spec sheet, but in the real world they do not. Worn out lamp will have blackened ends and will start drawing more current, just like your home CFL. Lytics cap does not last that long either.
