We'll probably against my better judgement I picked up this tv off Craigslist with a vertical white bar and colored lines for $20. Pop it open and looks like part of the board where the ribbon tab cables connects to is scuffed up and the ribbon tab cable itself gets very hot compared to the others. It looks like there is some sort of resistor on the back of it that gets extremely hot. I took a pick of the section that is sort of scraped up. Also there is a capacitor that looks like it may be blown. Any idea or should I just part this out?

Shorted tabbond driver Ic, not fixable. They probably tried to isolate that tab to get the rest of the screen to work. Please Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only. Anyone Doing So Will Be Banned Instantly !

It looks like that section got damaged by liquid (white powder residue and corroded coppers), is the board on the bottom edge of the panel?Last edited by budm; 09-01-2016, 10:12 PM.Never stop learning

Re: Oh 55LE5500 panel tab
Yes it is on the bottom right hand side. The left half of the panel is perfect. The right half is intermittent. If I put pressure on the middle section of the ribbon tab board I can get 3/4 of the screen to show while the last ribbon tab just shows lines. Also the right half has a slight contrast difference like it's slightly washed out but not very noticeable. I am just wondering if there is anything that may need to be replaced on the left side, possibly a bad capacitor? Probally just wishful thinking on my part.

Re: Oh 55LE5500 panel tab
That is what thought, people spray the cleaner on the screen so the cleaning liquid drips on to the board and corroded away the coppers and also conductive instead of damping the towel with cleaner and then wipe the screen.
You can use good magnifying glass to see if the traces are eaten away, check the resistance of the the caps to see if any of them show very low resistance, etc.Never stop learning

Re: Oh 55LE5500 panel tab
Ok checked the surface mount capacitor and it has a low value. Checked the ones on the next ribbon tab and those look good. Also looking at the ribbon tab I do not see any corrosion it's just right there on that area in picture of the board. Also looking at the metal fram that covers the ribbon cables I can see the corrosion from whatever it was that was split. So I wonder if the only problem can be that capacitor? I have no clue on what the value of that would be.Comment

I would at least remove the suspect cap and measure the resistance again.Never stop learning

Re: Oh 55LE5500 panel tab
Any chance any of you know what LED is used on this set? This is edge-Lit and I see LG has 2 types of Discrete LEDs for their TVs, they have the 6V and 3V both roughtly 7030 package size and land pattern.. Just curious if someone has measured the voltage across these LEDs (or total voltage per strip and number of LEDs per strip?)
ThanksComment

by NWArkGuyWell, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...
In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.
I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

by AK_777Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.
Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and... -
by howardc6449UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.
Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on... -
by triplefourTV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.
tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board.... -
I had a the above tv qn55q60r that had a bad panel but everything else good. I had another panel here from un55nu6900 with bad leds and melted diffusers.
I put the nu6900 panel in and powered it up and it does work but there are lines vertical lines.
I was trying to change the panel type in the service menu but don’t see my exact panel. Anyway to fix this or someone have similar experience.
the clear picture is the panel type from the service menus on the nu6900. The other 1 is the panel type that was set for the q60r with the bad panel....01-13-2024, 01:57 PM - Loading...
