    Vertical black bars

    Hello,

Posting this question for a friend. I can not seem to find too much info about solid vertical black bars. Is this a panel failure?

It is a Panasonic Viera plasma.

I had 2 panasonics with this problem. A 50" I fixed by cleaning with alcohol the ribbon connector on the lower buffer and the second that had a bad panel. I even tried a new buffer but made no difference.

I was afraid that it may be a bad panel indication. From what I have read is that the vertical lines are a bad panel and the ribbon cables are not soldered to the panels. If it was horizontal lines then that can repaired. I have not had a chance to look yet and I could buy it for around $50 but I don't think I want to take a chance.

      Thank you

I might still buy it for $50 because some of the sc boards to these panasonics can be sold for over $100. Obviously all the boards are working with the possible exception of the lower buffer c board that corresponds to that line.

You could still make money. At least here in Columbus the parts are worth more than a working tv.

mainboards for some pannys go for a small fortune and yes sc boards are worth gold

Buffer boards only fix the horizontal lines or sparkles etc. Vertical bars is most of the time a panel failure but it can also be dust/bad connection.

I had a 50" , think was a 50G20 with same issue. Reseating the cables fixed it.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

              Hi,
Can you somebody help me to solve a problem with my Panasonic plasma TV?
The model is TH-37PV80PA. When I switch on the TV on the screen are visible three wide black vertical lines. I open the TV and unplug the flexible connectors situated on lower side of the screen (just below the black bars) and switch on the TV again. The black bars become white.
My question is: Is it mean that the problem are the two buffer boards below the screen or the problem is the screen itself?
If someone can give me some sugestions I will be very happy!
              Thank you in advance!
