Re: TCP60ST50 7 blibking red lights

I can actually hear the tv making a little noise, like its trying to turn on, upon firing it up. That noise was not there before.

Also, as I'm working thru the tech guide it doesn't say to reconnect certain cables during the troubleshooting process. For instance, when instructed to remove SS11 it never says to reconnect after you've checked the number of blinking lights. It simply says to unplug SC20. Should these cables/ribbons be reconnected when moving from board to board?

Re: TCP60ST50 7 blibking red lights

Dont worry , we are here to help you haha.

You Always need to put the cables/ribbons back into place if you go to the next step. ( Always with TV off!! ).

Put your meter in diode mode ( thats the beep/continuity mode ).
On the repaired SC board you got the SC2 connector that goes to the powersupply. Remove the cable and put both propes on the connector. If it beeps you got a shorted SC board.

On the repaired SC board you see parts that have been soldered. You can clearly see them as they have solder on the legs.
If the part has a "Q" in front of it put the propes on the outter legs.

Wait , ill take a few pictures.

Re: TCP60ST50 7 blibking red lights

Im actually repairing a ysus board as we speak.

Different board but the idea is the same.
In the pictures you can see how to test the igbts ( Q ) and diodes ( d ) for shorts.

If you hear a beep on its usually bad. Can you check the soldered parts?

I have re-attached the pictures. Hopefully, the are a little clearer after blinds adjustment and cleaning lens ha ha ha. I also included the location that I'm testing the resistance at Pin2 and Pin6. Am I testing in the correct location? I know where the VGF screws are located.

Can you take a clear picture of the buffer boards? ( Ribbon connection between both boards ).

Ps , this is how you check buffer boards.

On the picture it looks like the little latch on the right hand side is not completely down. Did you have trouble pushing it down? It has to go smoothly.

Try to test the parts as i did on the pictures. Especially the SC2 connector.

Re: TCP60ST50 7 blibking red lights

I have to get to work in a few so I will not be able to test the soldered parts right now. However, SC is not shorted. I placed black probe on pin 3, red probe on pin 1...no beep. I then unplugged all connectors SC 41,42,46.

                      SD 42 with SC unplugged:

Black probe to VFG, red probe to Pin 1 BEEP!!! I tested the other connectors and did not receive a been. I assuming this means the brand new SD is short.

the ribbon connector is down. No problem installing the ribbon or pushing the latch down.

Well I attempted SC50 test once again. Turned on TV and heard a loud pop. The TV is flashing red 3 fast again. I'm not sure how it could be the A board. One of the first test I did was removing SC20 and received 8 blinks which would suggest that it's not the A board. I've got to get ready for work. Thanks!!!

Ooww boy thats a shame! Not sure how it happened though. However , dont throw away the board. The tv is a good tv!! No led tv can beat this tv.

Loud pop is one of the mosfets blown on the board. You need to figure out what part is blown , you can check that with your meter. Ps , how did it happen? When did it pop?

Always measure without the tv turned on unless you are measuring voltages like Vsus etc. Turn the tv off and remove the board , Put the propes on the SC2 connector , it will beep if its short.
Then measure the same continuity on the parts on the board as described on my pictures.

Hope we can fix this tv together! Ps , when you work i go to sleep haha.

I can actually see the blown mosfet. It happened after I unscrewed all 4 VGF's and SC connectors. I was conducting the SC50 test. I jumped the SC50 pins and plugged up the tv. I then turned on the TV. It all happened so quickly.

However, I believe the led was solid red, I heard the pop, and the led started flashing 7 red again. I've tried this test several times and never experienced the popping sound.

I will began checking continuity, possibly tomorrow.

I do love this TV. Great picture compared to any other I've watched.

Thank you for all your help.

Some on eBay for $36. A lot cheaper than my tnpa5335. Lol

It will be cheaper than shipping one from the Netherlands I bet.

Yup , get one from Ebay! You probably had a board that got repaired with bad components. Buy one that has the original parts , install it without the boards and do the SC50 jumper test. I use a harddisk jumper for it.
Recheck all connections and make sure the buffer boards are NOT touching the SC board. Turn on the tv and it should stay on with a green led.

                                        Hope it works for you.
