Re: Isolation Transformer
That link http://www.ebay.ca/itm/222226718872#ht_166wt_1319 shows a picture of a 220 volt to 110 volt step down transformer. which is what you got
I suspect it is a GISD-1000
So if you connect it to a 220 volt outlet you will get your isolated 110 voltsLast edited by R_J; 09-16-2016, 01:04 PM.Comment

Re: Isolation Transformer
The ebay picture above may well be an Isolation transformer but the spec says:
Input 230V 50/60 HZ
Output 115V 1000VA 8.7A
To check if it is an isolation transformer measure resistance between the input and output terminals which should be open circuit between Live In /Live Out, Neutral In / Neutral Out.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

Re: Isolation Transformer
I did a resistance check and there is no continuity between the input and output so it is indeed isolated. Problem is I am only getting 60VAC since it is a step down. Is there a way to modify or some way i can still get it to output 120VAC.Comment

Re: Isolation Transformer
GISD-1000 IS isolation and also a step-down transformer as shown in his description and also in the spec. sheet.

by harpWhen is talk about making isolation transformer on poor-man way, always I see schematic 240/12-12/240.
So, I wonder, is this wiring from my attachment it work, bringing some good feature or it is bad idea and why?... -
by BriesmithI have a blown smps and I am looking for some reassurance as to the amount of diagnosis I have to do. It blew the instant I plugged it in not under any load.
As you can see from the attached pix, the damage is located around the main or bulk capacitor (since removed for testing) and the resistor array/network that drives it (the bunch of SMD components to the left of the YAMAHA YC775 AMPS logo). The burn mark on the frame clearly shows the pins of the capacitor. And, for the avoidance of doubt, there is no way the board could have contacted the frame, it was correctly mounted on... -
by mikey5791Hi all,
Got this local made DC power supply (12/14V) given free as the transformer has melted. There is no marking or indication to identify what type or rating of transformer used.
Fyi,. I had a busted autogate mainboard with transformer with marking 13-0-13 . Is this the 13v dc type transformer?
My questions are
1. How do i test to see if the transformer is in good working condition?
2. Can this transformer (marking 13-0-13) be used to replace the melted transformer on the DC power supply?
Hope you guys understand what i was asking. My intention is... -
by PlayerOneI need help in finding a schematic or otherwise identifying the electrical characteristics of a transformer in a SMPS having the following marking:
042-010214-000ZR
ELY 1317
A photo of the transformer is attached. In particular, this is a PCB mounted transformer and I need the pinout.
I've tried Google searches of various portions of the part number with no luck, however managed to find posts with photos of this transformer having the same markings, except for the numbers following the “ELY” which leads me to believe they must be date code... -
by dennis_elx33Hello All,
i would like to post an interesting topic regarding 3-phase stepdown transformer which we suspect to cause an overcurrent (138A) which resulted to power tripped off of the HV power supply (80KV output).
Problem statement: Power tripped Off
Initial Problem: Found 2 IGBT and 2 rectifier diodes shorted (burnt).
Action Done:
1) Replaced the faulty parts with good spare.
2) Measured impedance of the 3phase input lines and found that L2 to L3 has 23.3ohm while other pairs are 51Kohm. This pins will... - Loading...
