Re: Samsung PS-42D5S - LVDS Cable issue

Called Emos 5 times today, no reply, just get VM. No reply to my email either.

I count in total approx 15 missing SMD components across the board and 4 Electrolytic caps.

Any half decent inspection of this board would have shown it was not fit to send out to a customer. The board literally looks like scrap. Solder mask scratches everywhere.

I will wait another day for a reply and then just reverse the paypal charges.

    edit -

I initially thought the missing components were limited to the board area around the LVDS connector which was severely damaged. On closer inspection there were SMD components missing from all 4 corners of the board. There was no pad damage or other obvious damage to the board other than the minor scratches that look like the board was stacked with others. The components literally looked neatly pulled with hot air from the board.

Things like that piss me off, for example if a Tv noob who just replaces boards brought that assumes its working they would then replace more then probably give up. Don't understand how hard it is to send a board working fucking ebay sellers !

Re: Samsung PS-42D5S - LVDS Cable issue

I sell on ebay and the last thing I want is a sale returned to me so I check carefully that what goes up for sale is in working order. I don't want the negative feedback or having to then cover the returns postage charges.

Yet I have had several items returned as not working which on retest are fine. It is impossible to stop people buying blindly in the hope that the part will cure their fault but if it doesn't then just say it doesn't work and ship it back at my expense.

We see all to often on this forum that there does tend to be a tendancy to throw parts at a repair in the hope that sooner or later it will be up and running.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Re: Samsung PS-42D5S - LVDS Cable issue

Got another mainboard today that I ordered of ebay. Identical to the one enroute from emos.

This board is very dusty though and covered in dead moths lol, definitley needs a clean before use. I dont have much hope that it will work.

Cleaned it. TV comes on, even has the startup chime but nothing on screen, panel does not even light up.

I could never get test pattern to run even with the original mainboard. I jumper pins 3-4 on control board and unplug LVDS from mainboard.

Tried all combinations and no test patterns.

I will try again with this new mainboard.

Tried test patterns again, screen does not light.

the control board I have is pictured below -

                            https://spares2repair.co.uk/images/p...20MAINASIC.jpg

I am jumpering pins 3-4 on cn2038 and unplugging the LVDS cable from the mainboard side.

Any idea if this is correct procedure for this control board? What is the SMD switch for?

if so just send this board back too ebay as it certainly looks faulty.

what comes in to play when running test patterns, I am assuming the test patterns are generated by the logic board and sent directly to the panel, so the mainboard does not really come in to play.

Other logic board should be here tomorrow from emos, I will test with that and then decide what to do.

After installing Linux, I can no longer enter the BIOS of my Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3C) laptop. When pressing [F2] during boot I simply get a black screen. Same thing when pressing [F10] and choosing "Setup" from the "App Menu" tab. Apparently this is a relatively common issue with Samsung laptops of that generation, but unfortunately i haven't been able to resolve the issue (yet).

Things i've tried so far; reinstalled Windows 10, checked for redundant boot entries, tried to factory reset using the emergency keyhole, attempted to clear the NVRAM by physically...

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                                            Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                                            First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
                                            by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

Samsung UN70NU6070F Standby Light flashes twice
                                            by Nicktronic
                                            Hey Everyone,

So I've got this Samsung and the reported issue is that when powered on the backlight comes on, but no picture, no sound, it will flicker, the standby light will flash red twice and repeat the whole process...each loop lasts about 15 seconds.

I've googled the issue and understand it is likely a panel/driver board issue, but was hoping the "tape method" could be successful. Before I did that though, I disconnected the left LVDS cable and powered the TV on. This time I got sound, no picture and the two blink standby light stopped. Did the same...
