Toshiba 46L5200U good picture for 10 minutes then the picture goes black.

This tv will have a good picture for about 10 to 15 minutes no problem when there is some video source but if you remove the video source the picture will stay on for at least a half hour and most likely longer, just have not tried it longer. When the backlights go out I loose all voltages from the led driver board to the led's. The power supply does still provide the 24v and the backlight on stays at 3.5v so I know it is either a bad led driver board or maybe a led causing this issue. I do know that if I remove the power for the led's from the led driver board the led driver board voltages drop to almost nothing. I did replace the led driver board with one from Ebay but pretty much the same issue so I do not know if I got a good one or not. I really hate removing the lcd panel from these but it may come down to that to check the led's. I have had this same model in the past with the picture flashing and then led's shut off and that was a led driver board. I welcome any ideas at this point.

an LED going bad? The LED power board can sense that something is wrong. If there is something wrong, then it will shut down. Maybe decrease your backlights almost next to nothing and see if the backlights stay on longer...

Thanks CapLeaker, that did the trick. Ran all day without going black.

yw. One of the LED's is failing. So you'll be talking it apart sooner or later to replace it. Anyhow, you know what the issue is now.

Well it ran for two days ok and the picture went out so I took the lcd panel off and inspected the led's. They all light up fine but the connector looks to have a burned mark on it. I am going to try and repair this.

That's another area of weakness with led sets that the interconnections are often of poor quality and bridging them by soldering jumpers removes that problem from re-occuring.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

had that on a edge lit tv before the connecters looked like they were off a cheap radio or something burnt and melted bridged and all ok the led driver detects current going up and cuts out

The only problem I am having at this point is getting the connector off so I can bridge the connections.

Well tried to remove the old brittle connector on the led strip and it snapped off so I just ordered a new one from shop jimmy.
