Re: Vizio VW42LFHDTV10A Dies after a few minutes

Any advice on where I can find the nominal voltages for these ICs? I'm hoping to get this buttoned back up and off the floor of my office. I have a mainboard from a similar model that has all these regulators - should I go ahead and replace any or all of them?

    Thanks much.

Hello, I have recently been granted with the failure of my Vizio 70 inch smart tv. It's the e701i-A3 (but you already knew that &#128521 well my family and I were watching the football game and *snap* (not any noise) out goes the picture. The light is still on in the back of the tv. When I press buttons on the remote it get brighter then goes dark. Took apart the tv. Back is off and I see 3 boards. T-con, main, and PSU. Question is could I just replace these 3 boards because they are inexpensive or will that not work? Please help me, this TV cost $1,500 and I can't afford a new one .

If you could post some clear pictures of the circuit boards.
The light is still on in the back of the TV. Do you mean the led back lights stay on as seen from the back of the set.
Can you measure the voltages on the power supply connect going to the main board.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Please don't hijack my thread - this issue is unrelated to the issue I'm trying to discuss.

More info: I've determined that if the power supply is kept cool with forced air, the TV will never shut off. The heat sink with the mosfet looking guys on it gets very hot otherwise. Does this mean a PS problem, or could it mean another component is drawing too much power and causing PS overheat?

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

                Vizio M65-C1
                by mrtek
                Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

                Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
